Three Gwinnett County inmates are being praised for saving a deputyís life, the Gwinnett County Sheriffís office said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

According to GCSO, the inmates noticed a deputy appearing ìto be feeling poorlyî as he conducted his security procedures in the housing unit.

GCSO said when the deputy returned to his seat, he lost consciousness, fell onto the concrete floor and split his head open.

The inmates began pounding on their doors and eventually the entire unit was thundering with noise, according to the sheriffís office.

According to GCSO, the deputy heard the noise, rose to his feet and opened the cell doors.

The inmates rushed to render aid to the deputy, who lost consciousness again, said GCSO.

Officials say the deputy is now recovering at home until he can return to work.
