What we do

We work on AI capabilities, safety, and policy, with a particular emphasis on reinforcement learning, robotics, and generative models.

Our recent results include GPT-2, robotic in-hand manipulation, and Dota 2 5v5. We also have developed algorithms like PPO and infrastructure like block-sparse kernel or OpenAI Gym.

Who's involved

OpenAI is governed by the board of OpenAI Nonprofit, which consists of OpenAI LP employees Greg Brockman (Chairman & CTO), Ilya Sutskever (Chief Scientist), and Sam Altman (CEO), and non-employees Adam D’Angelo, Holden Karnofsky, Reid Hoffman, Shivon Zilis, and Tasha McCauley.

Our investors include Reid Hoffman’s charitable foundation and Khosla Ventures.
