What we're about
Welcome to the JAMstack Boston! Prepare for an exciting lineup of speakers in the areas of static site generation, the modern web ecosystem, web apps and web hosting and performance solutions.
The JAMstack is not about specific technologies. It’s a new way of building websites and apps that delivers better performance, higher security, lower cost of scaling, and a better developer experience. No rendering means greatly reduced attack surface area for malware, ultra fast hosting on CDN, no debugging php or optimising rendertimes, and a super cheap way to scale your hosting.
JAMstack Boston is increasingly looking to power a larger part of tomorrow's internet!

Hi Jamsters!
We will be hosting this meetup virtually on Thurs, October 27th at 6 p.m. EST!
The featured presentation is "The Seven Things I Wish I Knew About Jamstack One Year Ago" by Mike Chirokas:
- What Jamstack is (I was doing it and didn't know it - btw lots of new folks are using it and don't know it's called Jamstack)
- Jamstack vs. non-Jamstack frameworks and why I should've used a Jamstack-friendly framework from the start (I switched from vanilla React to Next.js for SEO)
- Where stuff gets pulled in and what should go where (build time, server-side rendering, on-demand builders, ISR, runtime, edge, oh my!)
- Site speed matters and a few optimizations can make a big difference - how to find and fix them in less than an hour
- How to use Build Hooks to update my website from Contentful instead of making a minor change
- Component libraries (TailwindCSS)
- How to work with analytics tags and auth in Next.js
Mike is currently a Product Marketing Manager at Netlify, a web development platform for Jamstack sites, stores, and web apps. Previously, he spent a couple of years founding and coding two SaaS businesses. One was an iOS app focused on helping people save for travel (think: 401k for travel goals), and the other was a web app called the User Interview Exchange where founders, product managers, and UX researchers exchange user interviews for free.
