The Amas Darbhanga Expressway, a massive 189 kilometres long route, is approved under Bharatmala Pariyojna and will be constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The access-controlled route will mostly be a greenfield expressway with six lanes. And if everything goes as planned without any delays, the expressway is expected to be completed by end of 2025.
Also known as NH-119D, the expressway will efficiently connect the Amas village in the Gaya district and Bela Nawada village in the Darbhanga district. The planned route is expected to be the region's primary economic corridor. Once completed, it is likely to benefit the city in numerous ways, including increased trade activities, more job opportunities and improved road connectivity.
About Amas Darbhanga Expressway
The fundamental objective of the planned project is to provide ease of travel between North and South Bihar, subsequently cutting the journey down to around 4 hours. Moreover, the route will pass through the heart of Bihar, connecting the outermost regions of Aurangabad, Gaya, Patna, and Darbhanga.
As per the NHAI, the expressway will use sections of the Patna Outer Ring Road and the 9.75 km Kachchi Dargah - Bidupur Bridge projects, both of which are currently under development. In the future, there are plans to extend the route from north to Jaynagar on the Nepal border.
The land acquisition work for the project has been started and SA Infrastructure Consultants Pvt. Ltd. prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Amas Darbhanga Expressway Route Map
The expressway will start its journey from the Amas, Aurangabad, which is strategically located on the Delhi-Kolkata NH-19. It will traverse through seven districts, before terminating at the Nawada village in the Darbhanga, connecting NH-27.
