When i recently received a bunch of Alliwava U58  based on the Ryzen 7 5825U i thought i have issues with my hearing at first. They were crazy noisy, especially the fan was awful. After researching a bit, i found a nice solution In the Forum of Alliwava , a BIOS Update is offered which resolves the issue. After downloading the file C4909086_ShellAuto, the Fan is already a lot more bearable than before (almost no noise under idle). However you can then even adjust the maximum power limit of the CPU to even limit the noise also under load (BIOS -> Advanced -> Power Limit Select).

As the download of the files proved to be quite complicated (they use a quite strange downloader), I’ll present the approach here as well.

  1. Format the USB flash drive, select FAT32 for the USB flash drive file system, and change the volume label to WINPE. It is important to use FAT32, ensure that you don’t use NTFS or exfat.
  2. Copy the unzipped file to the prepared USB flash drive
  3. Plug the USB flash drive into the Alliwava U58 along with a keyboard to operate at the same time
  4. Press F11 when you boot up, select the USB Drive and press the Enter button to wait for the bios update to finish
  5. After the update, the U58 turned off in my case. If it doesn’t, then press the power button to turn off, and wait for about 2 minutes to turn on the machine

Generally: Be patient with BIOS upgrades
