Voice-based calling between Alexa devices including Announcements, Drop-in and voice calls are supported.

    We have a house full of Echoes and love them. This one was purchased to replace another unit in our kitchen. This is probably the busiest Echo in the house with constant requests for timers, additions to shopping lists etc. Like its predecessor, this Echo has some "hearing issues" which might be due to the placement location which is able to "eye level". I always smile at people who are paranoid that Alexa is always listening; I know better! Apart from this, I'm happy with the new unit, especially the screen which provides an excellent visual timer countdown function...

    I needed a voice assistant to control my smart home devices. The devices from different brands could already be controlled by the apps but I wanted the full hands-free experience and automate them in one hub.

    The Echo Spot is quite a small device, but the display is useful to show things like time, weather and notifications. It also auto-dims at night which to me is actually the most important feature as an alarm clock. The speaker is decent for the size and has bluetooth if you like to connect it to a sound bar or theatre system for better sound of course. No camera for this model which isn't needed anyway.

    The Alexa app is quite good and makes the Echo ecosystem worth it. New devices/skills are added automatically after the 3rd-party apps are linked. It allows custom 'Routines' so that specific voice commands will lead to specific actions in your smart devices. The Alexa app is reliable but sometimes can't understand certain phrases, but creating your own Routines overcomes this. The microphones are sensitive and will pick up your voice over music and background noise majority of the time.

    I use my Spot to control my lights, Wifi speaker, play Spotify and Amazon Music, robot vacuum, fan, air con, security system and various appliances. It's seamless and customisable, all hand-free by voice.

    Overall a neat little smart speaker.
