Authorizations
Authorisations reserve funds for an order until the transaction processed or the authorisation expires.
Some banks call authorisations "pending" or "processing" charges. After an order is placed, Amazon contacts the issuing bank to confirm that the payment method is valid and that funds are available. Most banks hold these authorisations up to 7 business days. If you are using a prepaid card, authorisations may be held for a longer period. Please contact the issuing bank for more information on their specific policies regarding authorisations.
- When you place your first order with us we may contact the credit card's issuing bank to confirm that the credit card is a valid number, and hasn't been reported as lost or stolen. This may appear as a $1.00 authorisation hold on your bank statement or card, but isn't an actual charge that is processed. However, we don't proceed with the charge and the $1.00 won't appear as a charge on your statement. The authorisation will lapse after no longer than 10 business days.
- It's not uncommon for a request for credit card authorisation to fail once or twice before the card is finally authorised by the issuing bank. We'll send you an e-mail if we experience difficulties in authorising your credit card.
