Glitter Magazine’s #1 Pick for Best YA of 2020
Optioned for Film by Universal

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.
Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

The Best New Supernatural Series!

The Best New Supernatural Series!
Both of her parents are dead and her bright and sunny San Diego is far behind her. Grace is sent to live with her uncle and her cousin at the Katmere Academy deep in the remote Alaska. Little does she know, the Katmere Academy is home to the young supernatural. Witch, shapeshifter, and vampire cliches make up this reclusive boarding school and her presence is not welcome by all. But as a war looms at the edges of the relationships between the supernatural races, it becomes clear that Grace was not sent here for her safety. She was brought to be the bait. As Grace attempts to survive this academy, she finds her loyalties divided. She must decide where to place her trust...and her heart. Fans of Twilight, Vampire Academy, and the Harry Potter series will want to take a bite out of this new series! The storyline forms in a suspenseful manner and develops intuitively throughout the novel. Wolff’s expert writing shines through as the reader is kept wondering about what will happen next. The beginning chapters serve as a means to bond with Grace and experience first-hand the off-putting atmosphere that surrounds this academy as Grace does not comprehend the danger that she has gotten herself into. The later chapters connect the reader to the characters in a more profound way that will stick with them long after the book has ended and leave them desperately wanting to know the outcome. Additionally providing the alternative point of view at the end of the book shows just how much the readers (and the main character) missed behind the chilling earlier scenes. "Deep down, I am not different from you. I dreamed you, I wished for your existence." -Tracy Wolff, Crave The characters themselves were believable and genuine. Grace was adequately “fragile” for being a human without being weak. She additionally is strong, passionate but also endearingly human in her motivations. The reader’s heart will ache with the losses that she has but celebrate with her small victories. Jaxon is the definition of a misunderstood bad boy but underneath that cold, somewhat frightening exterior is a broken, scared boy that clicks so perfectly with our kind and innocent Grace. Each character contributes something meaningful and intentional to the plot. Let me make something clear. This book is not Twilight. The plot is completely different, the characters are completely different, the writing is completely different. This book is infinitely better. Some complaints about this book are that all of the boys fall for Grace similar to that of Twilight. The important distinction between the boys of Twilight and the boys of Crave are that the boys in Crave all want something from Grace and to use Grace for their own factions’ goals. It is not actually insta-love or insta-lust. Now that that is cleared up, I love this book with all of my being. I love the twists that Wolff brings to the supernatural world to spice up a familiar plot and make it her own. I love the humanity that is shown in these characters and the harsh realities that they face. I love that my heart was racing during parts of this book because I was feeling what the characters were feeling. I absolutely, positively cannot recommend this book enough. Happy Reading, ~the Brown-Eyed Bookaholic

This story I grabbed as I have been interested in it for a while, and I want to see if it was as good as the hype.

Grace is on the brink of an epic adventure out in the far reaches of Alaska. The author adds in some fantastic dialogue that makes you chuckle. The author has creative chapter titles for her book. It is interesting. So Grace has moved to this academy with some of her family due to her parents passing. The guy she meets is obviously the first clue that this book is paranormal in nature, and Grace might just be a mere human she might not be, but does she know. He comes with a wired warning after his jerk face intro. Jaxson is a force so far, and when he comes to her rescue, he definitely sets up my spidey senses. Flint is a pretty boy, and he seems sweet. Katnere academy, in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness, is a castle-like none other.

I love that the author included a popular Netflix show. I mean, why not? It might hold similarities to Grace's circumstances. But even at that, we still don't know precisely what is being hidden at the academy. Things heat up in the time span she is there, and not her curiosity is getting the best of her. I love the Twilight reference in this story, but the characters are still vague on the paranormal in this school.

Grace is an absolute mess, but she does seem to migrate to danger. People are starting to show their true colors, including Jaxson and Macy. But I still don't know what paranormals are in this story. I feel bad for Grace as she seems to get stuck in Jaxsons hot and cold flashes and, of course, team Jaxson and Team Flint.

Ahh, the paranormal world gets revealed finally, and this book contains all sorts of species. I won't reveal them all as I have the fun of reading this was figuring it out. Once you know, the first part of this book makes more sense. However, there is still a nagging question about why Jaxson commands so much respect?

Finally, we get to the real romance of this story, and oh, it is swoon-worthy! Jaxson is a force to be recommended when he finally makes up his mind.

This book gets even more intense and action-packed toward the end of it. Omg!! Just as I thought we were done with one crisis, the next one happens. I'm surprised by the turn of events. This book ends on a massive cliffhanger. I'm dying to read more.

Grace and Jaxson are magnetic in this book. Their romance rivals some of the great paranormal ones. I loved every minute of Grace's broken, stubborn, teenage self. Jaxson honestly came off as a jerk most of the time, but he was gentle with Grace. This book so didn't go the way I thought it would, and I loved the surprises in it. I like the themes in this story overcoming grief, fighting for love, protection. This was a very YA read no steam in this story. I can't wait to read for in this series. I want to know what happens to Jaxson and Grace.

I do like the exclusive look into Jaxson's point of view at the end of the book. This takes us back to the first day of school but from Jaxson and the order's point of view. So this seems to be but and pieces of his viewpoint with some of the more intense action scenes from the story.

(An honest review with only a couple of small spoilers. If you can even call them that. )
“Crave”. If that isn’t exactly how I felt after finishing the first book? Idk what is.
I started this read, as any Twilight fan would. Skeptical, AF.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t notice and point out every single thing that reminded me of Twilight. And don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some similarities in the beginning of this book. I mean, besides the cover, it starts off with a girl getting on an airplane and leaving behind everything she knows. (Okay, Bella.) And on her first day, she meets the mysterious, angsty teenage boy. (Hello, Edward.) She also meets this incredibly happy and bright, tan boy. Who, surprise surprise, Mr. Angsty wants Grace (or Bella) to have nothing to do with. (Nice to see you again, Jacob.) There’s even a moment, where instead of Bella being in a street and almost getting killed by a group of men right before Edward swoops in and “saves the day”, Grace is in the school, almost getting killed by a couple of boys, when Jaxon (Mr. Angsty), comes and “saves the day”.

    BUT THAT’S BESIDES THE POINT!!!!

This book, was SUCH an easy read. So easy, that even though I was quick to find every cheesy Twilight comparison in the world, I was still able to read it without getting bored.
So easy in fact, that I didn’t even realize when I was half way through the book, that I was totally and completely enveloped into the story, I had forgotten all about Twilight.

Sure, there are some similarities in the beginning of this book. But that’s where it ends!!! The beginning!! And I’m CONVINCED, Tracy added in those similarities just to pay tribute to Stephanie Meyers and her Twilight Saga because that’s where her inspiration came from.
The series as a whole, in no way compares, to Twilight. It’s almost a different Genre, altogether.

I finished this book, in less than a week. And then I bribed my best friend to go to Barnes and Noble for me, to immediately buy the second book because Amazon was sold out, and the stores near me were also sold out.
I paid for an overpriced copy at Barnes and Noble (plus an extra $7 for my friends Starbucks bribery) because I couldn’t WAIT, to get my hands on the second book. And boy, was it worth every penny. There are four books in this series. It took me four weeks to read them all. That’s four weeks, I didn’t get any house work done, buy any groceries, watch any shows, and completely and totally, ignored and annoyed my wonderful husband. Truth be told, I was addicted. I was addicted after the first, cringey, page. And. I. CRAVED. It. All.
Do yourself a favor, and read this book. Maybe I only loved it so much because it was a continuation of the cheesy romantic fantasy that I was craving. But whatever the case, I devoured it whole and I will certainly, be reading it again.

P.s. I only give it 4 stars, because I noticed a couple of small typos, and I think it could have done without the twilight comparisons, and without the cheesy beginning where Jaxon licks Grace’s blood off his finger. It wasn’t sexy. It was cringey.
