How do I purchase an Amazon Pay Gift Card?

To purchase an Amazon Pay Gift Card, follow the steps below:

  • Open your Amazon app
  • Click on the Amazon Pay icon
  • Click on ‘Gift Cards & Vouchers’ from the homepage
  • Select a Gift Card of your desired value
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the payment for your Gift Card
  • You can also purchase Gift Cards from the Gift Card Store..

You can use the following payment methods to pay for your Amazon Pay Gift Card:

  • Debit Cards
  • Credit Cards
  • Net banking
  • UPI

The following methods cannot be used to pay for your Amazon Pay Gift Card:

  • Existing Amazon Pay Balance
  • Debit/Credit Card issued outside of India
  • Another Gift Card
  • A corporate Credit Card (for e-Gift Card purchases)
  • EMI (for e-Gift Card purchases)
  • POD (Pay on Delivery) (for e-Gift Card purchases)

Note: Amazon Pay can disable credit cards purchase of Gift Cards from time to time on select accounts. You can use any of the other permitted payment methods such as Debit Cards, Net banking and UPI in case you do not see the option to use credit card for your Gift Card purchase.

How do I add an e-Gift Card to my Amazon Pay account?

There are two modes to add an e-Gift Card to your account:

  • E-mail: A Gift Card ordered through the e-mail delivery mode will be delivered to the email address entered by you during the order purchase. You can directly add an e-mail Gift Card by clicking on the ‘Add to my Account’ button on the email.
  • Shared via link: You can directly add a Gift Card shared via link by clicking on the ‘Add to Account’ button on the link.

In both modes, you will be asked to login to your Amazon.in account and your Gift Card funds will be automatically added to it.

Follow the steps below to add a Gift Card to account from your Amazon app:

  • Open your Amazon app
  • Click on the Amazon Pay icon
  • Click on ‘Gift Cards & Vouchers’ from the homepage
  • Click on ‘Add Gift Card
  • Enter the 14-digit alpha-numeric code
  • Click on 'Add Gift Card to Balance'

Note:

  • A Gift Card (received through E-mail or Share via link) Code is 14 characters long and contains both letters and numbers (for example AS25-NZ1JX-CZCP5). The Gift Card equivalent value gets added to your Amazon Pay Balance. You can track the balance of your Gift Cards here..
  • A Gift Card Reference ID contains 16 numbers (for example, 6014 8515 3019 3950). It is different from a Gift Card Code and should not be added to the Add Gift Card section.

Calendar month limits apply to all Amazon Pay Gift Cards when adding them to your balance. These limits reset on the 1st of every month. If you reach these limits while adding a Gift Card to your balance, you'll see a notification right away. Amazon may update these limits from time to time. For certain transactions, you may need to complete additional verification steps before your Gift Card can be added to your balance.

How do I use an Amazon Pay Gift Card?

An Amazon Pay Gift Card can be used to shop on Amazon & on 10,000+ Amazon partner apps & websites. You can also use it to pay for bills & recharges on Amazon.

To use your Amazon Gift Card for a purchase, select ‘Amazon Pay Balance’ on your payment method selection page during checkout.

Note: Gifts & Credit balance cannot be combined with UPI, credit/debit card, net banking, EMI or Pay on Delivery (POD) options.

Q1) What is a Customized Gift Card?

A1) Customized gift card where y ou can submit your own content or image from a gallery to create customized Gift Card design. This option is available as part of e-Gift card option only (not physical gift card)

Q2) Is there any additional charge for a customized Gift Card?

A2) No. You can create a customized Gift Card at no additional cost.

Q3) How do I create a Customized Gift card?

A3) Customized Gift Card can be created only for an e-Gift card option. You can start by going into the gift card section and select any available standard design. You can then select the 'Your Photo' option within the design type options. Post this you can select any picture from your gallery to be displayed on the gift card.

How do I send a ‘Share via link’ e-Gift Card that I have purchased?

  • Once your purchase order is complete, you will get an option to ‘Share this Gift Card’.
  • Click on the button to share it via email or any messaging platform available on your phone, tablet or computer.
  • You will also receive the same link (Share Via Link) on your email address through which you can share the Gift Card.

Alternatively, you can share the Gift Card by following the below steps:

  • Open your Amazon app
  • Go to ‘Your Orders’ page
  • Select your relevant order
  • Click on ‘Share this Gift Card’
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

Are there any limitations on the purchase of a Gift Card?

You can buy up to a maximum of 5 Gift Cards or denomination worth INR 10,000 in a single order. The minimum and maximum denomination that can be purchased per Gift Card is given below:

Using a credit card, the combined amount of [Gift Cards + Amazon Vouchers] that can be purchased is as below:

  • 30-days: INR 30,000

  • 365-days: INR 3,60,000

When do Amazon Pay Gift Cards expire?

e-Gift Cards 12 months from the date of delivery
Scheduled Email Amazon Pay Gift Cards 15 months from the date of delivery

The expiry date of your Gift Card balance can be tracked from the ‘Your Transactions’ tab of your Amazon app/website account. We will also send reminder notifications before the expiry date.

Can I transfer money added under Gift Cards to my account?

No, as per regulations, money added as Gift Cards cannot be transferred to any bank account.

Why am I not able to add my Gift Card?

You may not be able to add your Gift Card due to any of the following reasons:

  • Gift Card Expiry : Add the gift card to your account and check if it shows an error as 'Gift Card is expired'. If yes, contact us to extend the expiry date.
  • Gift Card Redeemed Error : If you get an error 'the Gift Card has already been used/redeemed', visit Your Transactions to see if the gift card has already been applied to your account, or to the Amazon account of any of your family members.
  • Card Activation: If the Gift Card you are trying to use was given to you by an organization, please contact them to check if the card has been activated.
Note: International Customers are not eligible to use Gift Cards. Any Gift Cards purchased from marketplaces besides India cannot be added in the Indian account.

Why have I not yet received the e-Gift Card I purchased?

e-Gift Cards generally arrive within 15 minutes of ordering. However, sometimes it may take up to 24 hours.

Scheduled email Gift Cards are usually delivered to the recipient by 5 AM on the scheduled date of the delivery.

If the e-Gift Card have not arrived by the timeline mentioned above, please:

  • Check if the recipient's email ID was correctly entered.
  • Try resending the Gift Card using the ‘Resend’ button in the ‘Your Orders’ section of your Amazon app/website account (next to your Gift Card order) to the same or a different email ID.

Note: The ‘Resend’ button will not appear if:

  1. The recipient has already added the Gift Card.
  2. The Gift Card is scheduled to deliver at any specific time. In such a case, try the following steps:
  • Open your Amazon app
  • Go to the ‘Your Orders’ section
  • Click on the purchased Gift Card order
  • Click on the ‘Resend’ button on the Gift Card order details page
  • Click on the 'Resend to a different e-mail address’ button
  • Enter the correct e-mail ID of the recipient in the box under 'Enter email address’
  • Click on 'Resend Gift Card’
  • Your Gift Card will then be sent to the correct recipient. The recipient will get a new ‘Claim Code’, although the Reference ID remains the same.

Note: If the Gift Card has already been added by the current recipient, the ‘Resend’ option will not be visible on the page and the status will show ‘Redeemed’.

I entered the wrong e-mail while purchasing. What should I do now?

Try the following steps:

  1. Go to Your Orders and click on the purchased Gift Card order
  2. Click on the Resend button on the Gift Card order detail page.
  3. Click on the radio button for '*Re-send to a different e-mail address
  4. Enter the correct the e-mail ID of the recipient in the box under 'Enter email address and click on 'Re-send gift card. Your Gift Card will then be sent to the correct recipient.

The recipient will always get a new Claim Code although the Reference ID remains the same.

Note: If the Gift Card has already been added by the current recipient, the Resend option will not be visible on the page and the status will show Redeemed.

What should I do if my Gift Card balance has expired?

In such a case, keep your 16-digit numeric Gift Card Reference ID starting with '6014' handy and contact us for assistance.

Can I cancel/return a Gift Card?

No, due to regulatory restrictions, Gift Cards once purchased cannot be cancelled or returned.
