- Scroll to find Amazon among the list of partners and select “View.”
- A pop-up window will appear with more detail on how to use Pay with Points at Checkout at Amazon.com.
- To continue through to enrollment, click on the URL www.amazon.com/amexmr that appears in the pop-up window.
- The URL will take you to the enrollment landing page on the Amazon website.
- Click “Link your rewards account” to proceed.
- On the following screen, click “Enter your card details.”
- A pop-up box will appear with fields to enter your American Express card information.
- To link your rewards account and enroll in Membership Rewards® Pay with Points at Amazon.com, input your name on card, card number, and expiration date into the corresponding fields and click “Add your card.”
- You have now successfully enrolled your American Express Membership Rewards® Card and can use Pay with Points at Amazon.com.

- Follow these simple steps to redeem Membership Rewards® points for a gift card.
- First, navigate to the gift card landing page by clicking on “Explore Gift Cards.”
- A new page will open with a list of all Membership Rewards® gift card partners.
- Scroll throughout the page to explore the partners and select your choice.
- Once you’ve identified a gift card partner, click on that partner’s respective gift card icon to proceed in redeeming points (video selects Apple Gift Card).
- After selecting a gift card partner, a pop-up box will appear prompting you to select either a Physical or Digital gift card option. Depending on the gift card partner, only a Physical or Digital option may be available (video selects Physical).
- Then, select a gift card value (video selects $25). You will see the amount of points required to redeem next to the corresponding gift card value.
- Hit “Add to Cart” in the bottom right corner of the pop-up box.
- A mini cart will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Hit “Checkout” in the bottom right corner of the mini cart.
- A full Checkout screen will open containing details on your gift card order, delivery address and shipping options (if redeeming for a physical gift card).
- If ready to proceed, hit “Submit Order” in the top right corner of the Checkout screen.
- A Confirmation screen will appear with an order summary, indicating that you have successfully redeemed points for a gift card.
- To access your gift card, hit the “Order History” link in the top-right corner of the Confirmation screen under “What Happens Next.”
- You will be taken to the “Gift Card Order History” page where you can obtain your gift card details. Digital gift cards should appear in your Order History within 3 hours, but it could take up to 1 business day. Physical gift cards will arrive at your delivery address within 5 business days for standard shipping, or sooner if you pay for an expedited shipping option.
- You are now ready to use your gift card. Enjoy!

Transfer points to participating airline and lodging loyalty programs and make your dream vacation a reality.
- Video opens on “Redeem Membership Rewards® Points” landing page on the “Transfer Points” tab under “Enhance Your Travel Plans” section.
- Follow these simple steps to transfer Membership Rewards® points to a participating travel partner.
- First, navigate to the Points Transfer landing page by clicking on “View All Partners.”
- A new page will open with a list of all participating Membership Rewards® transfer partners.
- Scroll throughout the page to explore the partners and select your choice.
- Once you’ve identified a partner to whom you’d like to transfer points, click “Show Details” on the right-hand side of the screen next to the partner’s name (video selects Air France KLM as an example).
- A drop-down box will expand under the partner’s name with more details on how you can transfer points and a link to the Terms & Conditions.
- Once ready to transfer points, enter your partner loyalty program account number in the open text box (if you don’t have a partner loyalty program account, you will need to first create one on the partner website before transferring points).
- Below the text box for entering your partner loyalty program account number, select the name of the Card Member.
- Hit “Continue” in the bottom right corner of the expanded drop-down box.
- On the next screen, enter your 3-digit CSC for security verification.
- Hit “Continue” again in the bottom right corner of the expanded drop-down box.
- A message will then appear that says, “You’ve successfully linked your [partner name] partner account [partner account number].”
- Hit “Get Started” to proceed with transferring points.
- Use the sliding scale on the next screen to select the number of points to transfer to the partner’s loyalty program account.
- Hit “Review Transfer” when ready to proceed.
- The next screen will reiterate details on how many points you are about to transfer, the account to which they will transfer, the estimated time it will take for the points to reflect in the partner account, and the remaining Membership Rewards® points balance after transfer.
- Hit “Submit Transfer” to complete the transfer.
- The next screen will provide confirmation of the transfer.
- Hit “Visit [partner name]” to visit the partner’s website.
- You have now successfully transferred points to a participating partner and can redeem them on the partner’s website once the estimated transfer time has passed.

Membership Rewards® points do not have expiration dates. However, you can lose them under certain circumstances as more particularly described in the “Lose Points” section of the Membership Rewards® program Terms and Conditions.

Insider Fares
Insider Fares are valid only for Membership Rewards® program-enrolled Cards when a Card Member is booking through AmexTravel.com or the AmexTravel App™. Insider Fares will display in search results on AmexTravel.com only if an eligible Card Member is logged into his/her account and has enough Membership Rewards points for the entire fare; otherwise, publicly available fares will display. Insider Fares are fares for which less Membership Rewards points are required to purchase the flight. The entire amount of the purchase must be covered using Membership Rewards points. Insider Fares are only available on select flights. When purchasing an Insider Fare, the dollar amount of the fare will be charged to the Card Member’s account and a credit will be issued in that dollar amount on the Card Member’s statement; additionally, the number of Membership Rewards points required for the fare will be deducted from the Card Member’s Membership Rewards account balance. Membership Rewards® Program – Cover Your Card Charges
You can use points to cover eligible charges on your Card Account only if you’re the Basic Card or Basic Business Card Member. You also may be able to use points for this purpose if you’re the Account Manager or Rewards Manager for a Card Account. Corporate Card Members are not eligible.
The list of eligible charges can change from time to time without notice. We do not have to make any charges eligible for you to cover with points.
Generally, an eligible charge is one that:
- Occurs in the U.S. or in a U.S. territory
- Appears in your recent activity online or in your current statement
- Has never been disputed
- Is at least $1
You may use points only toward the entire amount of an eligible charge.
We’ll deduct the points from your Rewards Account right away and we’ll credit your Card Account within 48 hours. If we process the credit after your Card Account’s closing date, it will not appear until your next statement. In this case, you must still pay the amount due on your current Card statement by the due date. If you are enrolled in AutoPay, redeeming points for a statement credit will not reduce or adjust your prescheduled AutoPay amount.
Offer Terms
If a limited time offer appears, it is valid for solicited U.S. Membership Rewards® program enrollees only. Offer is not transferable and may not be combined with other offers. American Express in its sole discretion reserves the right to alter and or terminate this offer at any time. If you return to redeem points later, this offer may no longer be available. To be eligible to receive this offer, all Card accounts linked to an enrollee’s Membership Rewards program account must not be canceled, past due or have a returned payment outstanding at the time of point redemption. Individual terms, conditions and restrictions apply to the respective Membership Rewards offers.
Membership Rewards® Program - Redeem Points for a Statement Credit
Once you redeem, points will be deducted from your Rewards Account immediately and your statement credit will generally appear within 48 hours. If we process the statement credit after your Card Account closing date, it will appear on your next statement. Statement credits cannot be used to pay your Minimum Payment Due. Please remember to pay the Minimum Payment Due on your Card Account by the due date. If you are enrolled in AutoPay, redeeming points for a statement credit will not reduce or adjust your prescheduled AutoPay amount. All redemptions are final and cannot be reversed or expedited. Membership Rewards® Program - Redeem for Deposits
You may redeem Membership Rewards® points for deposits into your American Express® Rewards Checking Account. American Express will deduct the number of points you select from your Membership Rewards Account and deposit a corresponding dollar amount into your Rewards Checking account. Membership Rewards® Pay with Points at AmexTravel.com
To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards® program-enrolled American Express® Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding dollar amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used. If points redeemed do not cover entire amount, the balance of purchase price will remain on the American Express Card account. Minimum redemption 5,000 points.

If your Card is eligible for Pay Over Time and if a charge for a purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Linked Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead the statement credit may be applied to your Pay in Full balance. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us by calling the number on the back of your Card. Corporate Card Members are not eligible for Pay Over Time.
Membership Rewards® Program - Transfer Points
Enrollment in a participating Frequent Flyer or Frequent Guest program is required. Airline tickets and guest rooms are subject to availability. For each conversion of points into the Frequent Flyer program of a U.S. airline, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99, will be charged to your Card account. We charge this fee to offset the federal excise tax we must pay on such conversions. The fee may be more or less than the actual amount of the excise tax we pay on any individual conversion. We may offer you the option to redeem points to cover this fee.
Amex Offers
Eligible Card Members can redeem an Amex Offer by first enrolling in the offer in their online account or in the American Express® App and then using their enrolled Card to pay. Only U.S.-issued American Express Consumer and Business Cards may be eligible. You may not be eligible to access Amex Offers if we, in our sole discretion, determine that you have previously engaged in abuse, misuse or gaming of the Amex Offers program. Offers are also available to Additional Card Members and available offers may vary for each eligible Card Member. Please review the terms of each offer for details on how to redeem. Membership Rewards® Points Accrual via Rakuten
The Program is available exclusively to eligible U.S. American Express Card Members with a Card enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program (“Eligible Card Account”). Card Members must also be a Rakuten member and link their Membership Rewards® program account to their Rakuten account at rakuten.com/american-express. Corporate Card Accounts are not eligible to participate. There may be other Card Accounts or Card Members ineligible for this Program as determined by American Express.
Once your accounts are linked, you will earn Membership Rewards® points into your Rakuten account in lieu of Rakuten Cash Back for any qualifying shopping activities (as determined by Rakuten) subject to returns or other transaction reversals. Under no circumstance will you be eligible for both Cash Back and Membership Rewards for the same purchase. Rakuten will transfer Membership Rewards points accrued via the Program from your Rakuten account to your Membership Rewards account in accordance with Rakuten’s current program terms, including applicable transfer schedules. Cash Back accrued but not disbursed prior to linking accounts will be converted into Membership Rewards points. Rakuten reserves the right to modify the transfer schedule at any time in accordance with its program terms. American Express must receive accurate information from Rakuten for you to receive points earned via Rakuten. Membership Rewards points are not eligible for redemption until Rakuten completes the transfers and fulfillment into your Membership Rewards account in accordance with its transfer schedule. Your Eligible Card Account must remain open, active and in good standing from the time the points are earned through transfer and fulfillment in your Membership Rewards account to receive the Membership Rewards points. If American Express determines in its sole judgment that you engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming (e.g., manufacturing spend to earn rewards without bona fide purchases) in connection with promotions or offers or that you may attempt to do so, it may determine a purchase is ineligible for Membership Rewards points, suspend your ability to redeem promotions or offers in the future, or cancel your American Express Cards.
