About this listen

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A gripping Jack Reacher thriller from the bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child

Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!

Reacher had no idea where he was. No idea how he had gotten there. But someone must have brought him. And shackled him. And whoever had done those things was going to rue the day. That was for damn sure.

Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there.

The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed.

His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk.

A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

I have listened to every Jack Reacher novel to date, and this one seems wrong. it really seems like someone has edited all of the build up out of the book. things happen and the back story is just missing and then when some backstory is supplied its like an afterthought trying to make up for missing parts in a hurry. I wonder if the book was too long and then someone shortened up too much.

but Reacher is always a good book, nice to hear some of his other books get a mention finally.

Jack Reacher is always good

I do not like Scott Brick’s narration, which is so lacking in nuance. He makes the characters sound one-dimensional. His makes dialogue seem wooden and stilted. I’ve listened to all the Reacher books and the prior narrators.

The pace didn’t seem typical Reacher.

I’m a die hard Reacher fan but this was the most disappointing book in the series. They have been going downhill since Andrew started writing with Lee. Too much going on with a hard story line to follow, low continuity of story flow. Missing lots of Reacher details.

Disappointed, read like a rambling of thoughts and misshaped story lines.

Something has changed with Lee Child and Reacher novels. Maybe Andrew Child is doing most of the writing and storytelling, who knows.. maybe it's a ghost writer. The last two books have not had the same quality of story development and have become a bit "boring." unfortunately 😞

Dick Hill is always an excellent narrator of Reacher novels

Story is hard to follow
Weak reading …Brick lacks the passion and without a secondary voice, it’s monotonous and drones on

Far from previous quality

Miss Dick Hill or Johnathan McClain. Scott Brick makes it hard to distinguish between characters during dialogue, and his reading is very one-dimensional. Mundane moments are read like something epic is happening. The story seems very forced, and superficial. This is the first Reacher novel I considered giving up on…

Worst Reacher Novel/Performance to date?

This audio book lacks different voices for the characters. The tone is rushed through out the audio. As for the story it is boring. Locks the usual Jack take control and save the day! I miss Jack and this book missed the mark by a mile.

Not up to standard for Jack Reacher

This one is poor. No real drama, story seems more intent on describing surroundings in detail than actual plots.
And sorry, Scott - I used to enjoy your narration, but now every single act is spoken with hi drama - you're not able to discern regular story filler from dramatic parts as they're all told as if it is the most dramatic part of the story. And the pacing felt like they were trying to drag it out to make the story seem longer.
Disappointed with this one. Never felt like a Reacher novel.

I've listened to or read all the Jack Reacher novels. Don't bother with this one.

This is by far and away the worst Reqcher novel. Might be time to retire the series before any more damage can be done!

Doesn’t cut the mustard!

Truely sorry to give this a bad review. Since Lee has stopped writing the Jack Reacher character has lost his edge. All of the Andrew Child books are unrecognizable as authentic Jack Reacher novels.
I keep buying them hoping for the best and have been disappointed every time.
