About this listen

Fifteen-year-old Christopher Boone has Asperger's Syndrome, a condition similar to autism. He doesn't like to be touched or meet new people, he cannot make small talk, and he hates the colors brown and yellow. He is a math whiz with a very logical brain who loves solving puzzles that have definite answers.

One night, he observes that the neighbor's dog has been killed, since it is not moving and has a large garden fork stuck in its body. Christopher knows this is wrong. He has never left his street on his own before, but now he'll have to in order to find out who killed the dog. What he discovers will shake the very foundation of his perfectly ordered life.

Critically acclaimed author Mark Haddon, a two-time BAFTA winner, crafts a stunning masterpiece that is funny, honest, and incredibly moving.

I really enjoyed this book. Not my usual reading but part of a book club, so glad I was brought to it. Beautifully written, gave me an appreciation for the needs of someone with Asperger’s.

This is at times funny, at times heart-wrenching, at times uplifting, and always interesting. The protagonist's voice is immediately engaging...you fall in love with his character from the beginning and stick by/root for him through every journey and episode; and Woodman's voice simply enhances these feelings. If you ever have a chance to see the play, SEE IT! #Audible1

Touching, Funny, Interesting, and Important!

This book has been incorrectly labeled as a mystery novel, which I assume caused people to give it lesser reviews. Instead, it is chance to immerse oneself fully into the fascinating mind of an endearing character. The supporting characters are well rendered: fully human and believable. The pace of the story is perfect, and the charcter's world is easy to imagine. Like any good YA book, the story is compelling at a basic level, but older and adult listeners will understand all the subtlies. The narrator is extraordinary, easily able to give distinct voices and spot-on emotion for each character.

narrator did very well! takes a bit to get into as it seems childish at first, but the mic drop moment a few chapters in will make you finish the book.

Heartbreaking view of life as a neurodivergent kid

this is not like the average book. Mark did an amazing job describing everything from the perspective of a kid with odd behavior. And Jeff did an amazing job too on narrating it.

very original
