Linda J. MacDonald, MS, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 33 years of experience helping individuals and couples heal from infidelity. A graduate of Seattle Pacific University with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, she spent decades in private practice before retiring from The Shepherd's Center in the Pacific Northwest to focus on writing and teaching. Her well-received book, "How to Help Your Spouse Heal from Your Affair," grew out of a need for clear, practical guidance for unfaithful spouses seeking to rebuild their marriages. Instead of a broad textbook on affairs, Linda wrote a concise, step-by-step guide to help betraying partners “tend their side of the fence.” It has sold more than 138,000 copies, offering hope and direction to couples worldwide. To address another overlooked group—betrayed spouses whose marriages end—Linda released "Redeeming the Post-Affair Divorce" (October 2025). Written for Christian men and women, it explores the grief, shame, and trauma that follow infidelity and abandonment, including spiritual abuse, unwanted divorce, and self-blame, while offering practical and faith-anchored steps toward healing. Beyond counseling, Linda is a workshop leader, podcast guest, and author of the widely performed one-act play "Broken Heart," seen by an estimated three million people. She has led workshops on topics such as trauma recovery, healthy dating, forgiveness, and affair-sparked divorce, and she facilitates support groups for those facing betrayal and abandonment. Linda and her husband, Dan, a recently retired pastor, enjoy hiking, kayaking, camping, reading, and volunteering with Celebrate Recovery. Together they have four adult children and eight grandchildren. Visit her website at: lindajmacdonald dot com for free articles, podcasts, and helpful resources.
