From the ambassador of the UAE to Russia comes a bold and intimate exploration of what it means to be a Muslim in the 21st century.

In a series of personal letters to his sons, Omar Saif Ghobash offers a short and highly listenable manifesto that tackles our current global crisis with the training of an experienced diplomat and the personal responsibility of a father. Today's young Muslims will be tomorrow's leaders, and yet too many are vulnerable to extremist propaganda that seems omnipresent in our technological age. The burning question, Ghobash argues, is how moderate Muslims can unite to find a voice that is true to Islam while actively and productively engaging in the modern world. What does it mean to be a good Muslim? What is the concept of a good life? And is it acceptable to stand up and openly condemn those who take the Islamic faith and twist it to suit their own misguided political agendas?

In taking a hard look at these seemingly simple questions, Ghobash encourages his sons to face issues others insist are not relevant or not applicable or that may even be Islamophobic. These letters serve as a clear-eyed inspiration for the next generation of Muslims to understand how to be faithful to their religion and still navigate through the complexities of today's world. They also reveal an intimate glimpse into a world many are unfamiliar with and offer to provide an understanding of the everyday struggles Muslims face around the globe.

This book highlights some of the current moments of disarray and doubt that many Muslims throughout the world are suffering from, and the author sheds light on many different issues and even talks about how one can possibly overcome some of these issues. It is a very impactful, wise, and beautifully written piece of work that dissipates some of the more horrible points of view they Islam has acquired, especially from the West. I hope everyone gets a chance to read this and broaden their viewpoints about Islam.

Everyone, Muslim or not, needs to read this.

? do muslims want to live in the 7th century or the 21st century
? are there eloquent modern muslim voices that speak to this issue
? is it helpful to put this discussion in the form of loving fatherly advice

omar saif gobash has a russian mother and an arab father
he is widely and well educated and works as an UAE ambassador
but what he wants most is to do is give his beloved sons good advice

the book takes the form of affectionate, paternal instruction and caution
even those with no affection for the arab world, can respect his trying to be a father
i found the book an enlightening and encouraging guide to today's arab world

7th century vs. 21st century muslims

What did you love best about Letters to a Young Muslim?

It is a book we should have been reading long time ago, it shows the truth about Muslims and Islam and it is the answer to all those who degrade us Muslims because of our believes.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Letters to a Young Muslim?

When he went to religion class in UK and had to enter a Christian class because of the Muslim scholar who had it all wrong.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Every moment moved me as I can see the resemblance in our family. As a father myself, I would want my son reading this book and I would wish for myself to one day reach the levels like Bu Saif and make a difference myself.

Thank you Bu Saif
