From the USA Today bestselling author of BOYFRIEND MATERIAL and HUSBAND MATERIAL comes a charming New Adult LGBTQIA+ romance perfect for fans of Heartstopper.

Drew’s always prided himself on being the “right” kind of nerd. He plays sports, has a solid group of friends, and never had any problem talking to girls. Sure, he spends time playing Heroes of Legend, the biggest MMORPG on the planet, but it’s just a fun hobby, not his identity. Falling for someone in a video game? Not his style.
Until it is.

Enter Kit: witty, kind, razor-sharp, and a healer who’s saved Drew’s virtual skin more times than he can count. She’s also, turns out, a boy in real life. The realization knocks Drew off-balance, but it doesn’t take long for him to figure out the simple truth—he likes Kit, no matter Kit’s gender.
The real challenge? Kit’s reality is leagues apart from Drew’s. Being online is his life, and while he’s willing to come out of his shell an inch at a time, there’s such a wide gulf between them that Drew’s left wondering: can love truly bridge the distance…or are they fated to remain in separate worlds forever?

It's different and in the beginning it can be a little overwhelming memorizing all the friends of both MCs but I adored it. I LOVE gamer romances or only meet type love stories and this book hit the nail on the head. I also love that even though it's not stated, Kits actions and way of thinking were very ASD in nature and Drew was very neurotypical so it was cool watching Drew grasp and adapt to Kits brain and the way it processes. Nothing felt forced and Ill say again I enjoyed the whole thing

My ONLY note. I hate how the narrator did the main girl friend of Drew's. She was cool and the narrator portrayed her voice too vally girl and airheady for my taste since she was dropping some real world intelligence so frequently...but overall he did good differentiating between so many characters.

So cute!

I knew this would be good because, well, it’s Alexis Hall. They can’t write a bad book. But it was so funny and cute and sweet and just heartwarming. And even though I’ve never played an mmorpg (which I was a little worried would be a barrier in enjoying it) I needn’t have worried. I’ve apparently picked up enough from being around people who played that I didn’t have any issues. The way it took place partly irl and partly online inside the game world was really cool.

I normally don’t like full cast audio, but I really enjoyed this one. It was performed brilliantly by the cast and the sound effects weren’t distracting. It was an excellent experience overall.

Delightful!!

I have a complex feelings about the author after Husband Material but they are one of the best queer romance authors out there otherwise, so I took a shot.

Don’t let the glossary to start put you off. I really struggled with the format of the online gaming text, the pace and characters online for the first few chapter so much so I almost left it but I’m glad I didn’t.

Once I accepted it and saw how the various setting played into the unfolding romance I fell in love with the characters and the issues between them. Really poignant message about real friends, how we spend our time, and how people can affect our decisions but ultimately we are responsible for how we respond. Really loved it all by the end and as a table top RPG guy, understood the online world a bit better.

The amazing talent of the full cast gave a window into what teens are now facing as far as finding their people in nontraditional ways, and helps me understand my 16 yr old a little more. And I liked how the time in HOL came across differently by adding the game’s background music. But mostly I loved the story of Drew finding his way to the person that matters most.

I love a great First Love story!
