It’s the $10 million heist you’ve never heard of. In a matter of months, dozens of truckloads disappeared from American highways. But what were they carrying? Nuts.

Marc Fennell takes you into a rabbit hole of crime syndicates, stolen identities and private investigators that will change the way you think about food forever. Eighty per cent of the world’s almonds are grown in the heart of California, but this journey will take you to Italy, the Spanish coast, deep under the earth and even into space.

The writing and production quality are top-notch. But for hours to talk I'm about an unusual crime that could be told in 5 minutes, is too much.

Four hours to deliver a Five minute story.

This audiobook makes you think twice about everyday foods. It was enjoyable with lots of twists and turns! Hearing an Australian experience various nuances of American life was also highly amusing.

I came to this podcast from a recomendation, but was definately listeneing when I found it was by one of my favourite journalists. Listening to an Aussie grapple (literally) with American gun culture without starting an argument was impressive. I didn't think a nut theft on the other side of the world from me would feel so relevant to my everyday life - I keep thinking about the almonds in my kitchen. I will definately buy nuts with more concideration in future.

Insightful, funny and surprising
