Hal is an impeccable writer who subtly and effortlessly pulls the reader (or listener) into the world of well-developed, nuanced characters facing fantastical circumstances who are experiencing surprisingly relatable life lessons. This is a fabulous read; especially for queer young adults!

at least I'm assuming the author didn't write misgendering into the story on purpose? but the reader messes up SEVERAL times. how hard is it to do another take? come on.

the story itself is good and engaging but the misgendering takes me completely out of it every time. it really sucks! they/thems can't escape it.

reader repeatedly misgenders a trans character :/
