In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles—micro-robots—has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive. It has been programmed as a predator. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. Every attempt to destroy it has failed. And we are the prey.

As fresh as today's headlines, Michael Crichton's most compelling novel yet tells the story of a mechanical plague and the desperate efforts of a handful of scientists to stop it. Drawing on up-to-the-minute scientific fact, Prey takes us into the emerging realms of nanotechnology and artificial distributed intelligence—in a story of breathtaking suspense. Prey is a novel you can't stop listening to. Because time is running out.

Of all the authors I have read, by far, Mr.Crichton is the most fear inducing. Why???? Because his logic and science is so convincing. I’ll try not to remember this book at night before I lay down. If I do replay the story, I may never again rest. Most Excellent !!

Real knowledge. Real fear

It started good but later in the book, after you get to know them, the characters started behaving out of character. Smart characters seemed dumb. The reader easily foresaw what was coming and the smart characters would not see obvious clues. It got aggravating.

characters not true to themselves.

I very much enjoyed this novel. This novel is what you'd expect if you are a Crichton fan - a tale of technology gone amok, only this time at the nano scale.

Another Great Crichton Novel

I could hear the narrator drinking something or making smacking noises throughout the book. other than that he was great.

annoying sounds
