The author of I Used to Be a Miserable F*ck, The Angry Therapist, now teaches you how to prioritize your relationship with yourself and live a more meaningful life, whether you’re alone, dating, or with a partner.

There’s more to life than loving someone. But being single can feel like a death sentence. Why does being alone equal being lonely? And why do we stop working on ourselves when we’re in a relationship?

After a painful divorce, “The Angry Therapist” John Kim realized he had never truly been on his own. He went on a journey to rebuild his relationship with himself, going from alone and disconnected to alone and fulfilled. Kim has gone on to help thousands of clients find their own unique way to break free of expectations and finally live their truth.

With Single on Purpose, Kim takes his signature no-BS “self-help in a shot glass” approach as he shares his own singlehood story and shows listeners how to own their shit, break their patterns, and find a grounded sense of self.

Spending time to cultivate your relationship with yourself shouldn’t be something you only do when you hit rock bottom, go through a major loss, or have a quarter-life crisis. All of us, at some point, need to be single - on purpose.

Truly touched me and hit on so many tender place. He's super raw and honest that you can very easily connect with him as he touches on things that I think everyone goes through or experiences at least once in life. He helps you see how we are the creators of our own lives and whatever we are going through is the aftermath of our thinking. He shares his truths, and relates to you but then gives you advice for what you can do to change starting with your mental chatter. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I felt like I understood him. I connected to his vibe too....in a kindred spirit sort of way....which was solidified when he rattled off his playlist at the end!! I mean anyone who knows about 'The Background' by Third Eye Blind is most definitely my people!...just surprised you didn't list 'Motorcycle Drive By.... "the cigarettes ash flies in your eyes and you don't mind, you smile and say the world it doesn't fit with you, I don't believe you, you're so serene, careening through the universe, your axis on a tilt, guiltless and free, I hope you take a piece of me with you".....God Stephan Jenkins was never given enough credit for his amazing lyrical ability. Thanks for your guts, grit, and ability to quiet your ego enough to observe yourself....then write about it and help others in such a down to earth, no bulsh kinda way! Thank you....

Honestly didn’t expect to think much of this book
But I loved it
Often books like this are a little vague in how to apply the knowledge but this book really explains his thoughts and how to put them to use
Good use of examples from his life and clients made it something I didn’t want to put down
And I know feel like I have some things to attack my areas I want to improve with
10/10. Definitely recommend for everyone

As a therapist myself struggling with some of the very things that my clients also struggle with, I was blown away by John’s courage and vulnerability! It is only when we are vulnerable that we can heal and help heal! One more thing. If you listen to acknowledgments that means you thoroughly absorbed and enjoyed the book! AMAZING, JOHN!
