Following the success of Lean In and Why Women Should Rule the World, the authors of the best-selling Womenomics provide an informative and practical guide to understanding the importance of confidence - and learning how to achieve it - for women of all ages and at all stages of their career.

Working women today are better educated and more well-qualified than ever before. Yet men still predominate in the corporate world. In The Confidence Code, Claire Shipman and Katty Kay argue that the key reason is confidence.

Combining cutting-edge research in genetics, gender, behavior, and cognition - with examples from their own lives and those of other successful women in politics, media, and business - Kay and Shipman go beyond admonishing women to "lean in". Instead, they offer the inspiration and practical advice women need to close the gap and achieve the careers they want and deserve.

It was an interesting book. It had a realistic yet gentle approach to explaining confidence. I loved the women empowerment vibe from it. I wouldn't give it 5 stars as there was too much useless fact information.

Good book for realist

As a young, female Director of Human Resources in a male-dominated industry and a mother of two young girls, this book’s message hit me in a monumental way. I’ve already recommended it to male and female colleagues alike, and I’ve purchased it for some friends and young women within my company. Cheers to raising the next generation of girls to be authentic and confident.

Empathy, understanding and sharing is the elements that are encouraging trough this book. Really helpful specially with self-acceptance.

Remarkable!

General outlook on how confidence varies by gender and touches on some, but not a lot of, racial undertones that are determining factors. I like the use of real life stories, but would have liked more examples of how to use the practices as it seemed to die off at the end. Otherwise, great starter or mid-level book for those looking to boost their confidence level while gaining insight into the intricacies of how and why confidence has changed over the ages.

I would have liked more examples, good overall
