"No killing Goblins."

So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours.

It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

In a dangerous world where magic is real and people can level up and gain classes, Erin Solstice must battle somewhat evil Goblins, deadly Rock Crabs, and hungry [Necromancers]. She is no warrior, no mage. Erin Solstice runs an inn. She's an [Innkeeper].

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. The first half of the book was great and annoying off and on, but the author improves steadily making the second half 5 stars. I just finished reading volume 2 on her website and it’s 6 stars with no annoyances! It was so worth getting this far and there is a ton of story already written to keep going.

The characters are so unique and believable. It has LOL comedy, drama, battle, politics, tragedy to some extent, small every day cute stories, and a complex world.

The narrator did a fantastic job as usual!

Worth it in the end!

I do not typically write good reviews. It is easy to write bad ones criticizing the book and pointing out major plot holes. I don't remember the last positive review I left. I will say that I only starting liking the story about 2 or 3 hours in. Slow burn does not cover it. It starts at a snails pace. Nothing is going on Erin for example does not leave 500 feet from the inn for the first 5ish hours. At one point she rushes past a stream and then right afterwards completely forgets she has done so. But then she plays CHESS. And the music and culture references start coming in.
EVERY character gets so much depth and attention to detail! Anyone of them can die. There would be one happy chapter, followed by a blissful moment and then a full on bass drop exploring the depths of pure HELL. Comical and unimportant moments that led to a catastrophic and very logical outcomes. One simple comment you didn't pay any mind to three seconds ago dumps you into the gutting and then pulls you into the sewer....("I'll keep them from bothering you Erin")
Nothing is typical. Your typical hero wants to be an adventurer, a hero, someone bad-ass and powerful. But what if they just were angry at the world or hated killing. Not just someone who has anger problem or just gets over killing at the start but really truly stays angry and truly does not like violence. There are no characters to fall in love with or be devoted to. No perfection or heroism is demonstrated in this book by the main characters. It's real though, real and dirty.

What makes this book bearable is the narratorion.

The main character is pathetic which makes it hard to get into. To much crying, denial and doubt which she really never overcomes.

Not sure why the additional characters. For such a long book they don't go anywhere. Its almost like 2 stories in one. Multiple times they cross but never really integrate.

Is that really how women think? Kind of scary if so!

Don't under the high rating

Great book and beginning to an amazing series. This is not my favorite book in the series, but great nonetheless. I can't wait for the other volumes to come out.

Wonderful book, great narration!
