About the Host

Penda N'diaye is a Senegalese-American pleasure enthusiast currently building her own sex toy company. After her mom gave her her first vibrator for Christmas, she created the brand Pro Hoe to eradicate stigmas surrounding sexual freedom and identity in Black communities. She has curated and led several community events sponsored by Planned Parenthood, sex therapists, and social workers to create a safe place for the exploration of pleasure. As a former professional dancer with Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, physical exploration and human connectivity have always been her jam. The awareness of self, surroundings, and the world is evolving but that most families have not raised their children to educate them about what are feelings - good or bad and what’s okay and what’s not. Then when go to school in the 4th grade - girls and boys are placed into separate rooms to be shown a movie about boys and girls changes and body parts and told that these “changes “ are normal as we are starting to grow into adolescence and adulthood. That’s all we learned. No information ever again. Church also teaches us to only have sex once you are married and never touch peri area. Sex only to have babies. Now finally our children are adults and had to learn on their own also- from one generation to the next. It is great to open our eyes and use plus enjoy the senses that we’re given to us.

I feel that the world is awakened and evolving towards equality

Understand the need to include sex but wish more areas of other pleasure were explored. Sex as pleasure has been presented as a taboo especially for women for many years in the not so distant past. Pleasure can be obtained in so many different forms and while things like dance, art, and even letter writing were briefly mentioned, I wish this segment had focused less on the graphics of sex and more on the pleasures of life.
