From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson comes a rollicking, riveting tale set in the Cosmere universe–a standalone adventure perfect for fans of The Princess Bride.

The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?

After listening to many Brandon Sanderson novels narrated by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer, I was hesitant to try something new. I'm now a few hours in and am quite enjoying the immersion of the full cast, music and the sound effects! Absolutely worth a shot if you love B. Sanderson novels or this is also a great entry point! Kudos to the entire team on the project! Hope to hear more in the future! Honored to leave the first review on this project :)

The story's great for a dramatized adaptation!

Wonderful reenactment of a whimsical and well thought out adventure. The characters were represented well, and the background sounds added magic to this recording! Can’t wait to listen to it again!

Character development galore!

This book made me laugh so many times. It's so clever and well written. Great audible, too. If you're going to listen to a version, you should pick this one. Great book!!! I didn't want to stop listening. A couple of times, I continued even after my commute was over bc I was so invested. It grabs you and holds you. The ending is perfection.

My Favorite B. Sanderson Book!

There isn't anything wrong with this book, it feels very much like a Sanderson book which is not a bad thing, but it should really be tagged as a YA book. The magic of the world is creative and interesting and deep, but the characters are a little bit... one note would be the best I could explain it. Part of this could be put down to the narration.

And TBH, I don't think I particularly like the way this was adapted. The full cast is nice but I didn't like some of the direction, particularly for Tress' for voice actress, as the performance was always slightly off in tone from what you'd expect from the actually story. If I had to listen to it again I would definitely spring for the regular old audiobook, despite never having heard it.

Not bad, but it should really be listed as a YA novel
