Teens charged in Halawa attempted murder investigation

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two teens arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Halawa have been charged.

The Honolulu Police Department said investigators identified two additional juvenile male suspects, ages 17 and 16.

Both were located and arrested Tuesday by the District 3 Crime Reduction Unit.

After the case was conferred with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney on Wednesday, both teens were charged as accomplices to first-degree attempted murder and three counts of second-degree attempted murder.

In addition, the 16-year-old was charged with place to keep. The 17-year-old was also charged with first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, HPD said.

Police said petitions have been filed in Family Court.

Tuesday’s arrests were made with assistance from HPD’s Strategic Enforcement Detail, Homicide Detail, Forensic Video Unit and District 3 Crime Reduction Unit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
