Stephen Finkenauer is a lifelong artist who has been creating for more than 60 years. Stephen has been part of ArtStreet since its very first day over 30 years ago, finding creative refuge and purpose through the community. His work is inspired by the freedom and energy of horses and the vivid colors of the Southwestern landscape. He often paints different versions of the same scene—shifting weather, changing horses, and varied light—capturing the feeling of movement and immersion. This week's Featured Artist: Crystal Collins (Cryss Chaos) is a mixed-media artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was born and raised. For Crystal, art is both personal and powerful: “It brings me joy and a sense of freedom,” she says. “We can use art to speak out against the wrongs we see—even if we can’t change them ourselves.” As a disabled woman, she sees her art as a way to amplify her voice beyond individual limits and connect with others. Above all, Crystal wants others to know that ArtStreet is a creative home for everyone: “It’s not just for people experiencing homelessness—it’s for the whole community. Art has been healing for me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.” To read more, visit AHCH's blog: https://bit.ly/46tCiFe

Yesterday's passage of the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" will strip Medicaid coverage from more than 12 million people, put thousands of lives at risk each year, and threaten the stability of health clinics and hospitals across the country. This law delivers a devastating blow to the health and well-being of low-income, underserved, and unhoused individuals — people who have already faced many barriers to care. These policies run contrary to our values of compassion, justice, and equity. Health care is a human right, and no person should be forced to go without care simply because of where they live, how much they earn, or whether they have a job. We will continue fighting for equitable universal health care for all people, in spite of these additional challenges. A better future is still possible. Call your House Representative TODAY and Say NO to the Federal Budget Bill. This bill is bad for you and bad for New Mexico! Congress is voting on a bill that would: 🚨 Cut $3.5 trillion from Medicaid 🚫 Kick 16 million+ off health care 🍽️ Slash SNAP & housing assistance 💰 Add $4.6 trillion to the deficit 🏚️ Push families into homelessness 💣 Give billions to ICE & defense contractors 🌎 Raise your electric bill by repealing clean energy credits 👉 This bill hurts New Mexicans—especially rural, Indigenous, and low-income communities. 📞 Get in touch with your Rep, either email them with this link https://bit.ly/3ZYsbV3 or call 202-224-3121 and say: VOTE NO on the Budget Bill! We need a budget that cares for people, not billionaires. #StopTheMegaBill #ProtectMedicaid #FundPeopleNotPrisons #AHCHAdvocacy #NMcares #SaveSNAP #PeopleOverProfits

AHCH programs and policies are grounded in evidence-based principles of trauma-informed care, dignity, and personal choice. Health Care and Housing is a human right--nobody should be denied the care they need. LGBTQ+ youth are one of the most vulnerable demographics for homelessness, discrimination, and violence--with transgender individuals experiencing even higher rates of gender-based violence and discrimination in both housing and health care systems. At AHCH, Pride is more than a celebration—it’s a commitment to access, dignity, and care. LGBTQ+ individuals—especially transgender people—face some of the highest rates of homelessness and housing discrimination in the U.S. 🏳️⚧️ 1 in 3 trans people have been unhoused 📉 LGBTQ+ adults are twice as likely to experience homelessness 😔 Nearly 50% of trans individuals report mistreatment by medical providers These are not just numbers. They reflect systemic issues that demand care rooted in access and bold efforts for systemic change. At AHCH, we meet people where they are—with compassion and affirming care. We honor the strength of LGBTQ+ individuals, especially those facing homelessness and deep systemic barriers. Pride reminds us that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and housed. 🦷 Oral health is a human right—not a privilege. At Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless, we know that a healthy smile can mean the difference between isolation and opportunity. This #OralHealthAwarenessMonth, we're spotlighting the deep impact of oral care for people experiencing homelessness. Thanks to our partner, Delta Dental of New Mexico, AHCH provided dental services to nearly 1,000 individuals last year—through in-clinic care and our mobile dental outreach unit, which brings compassionate care directly to encampments, shelters, and the street. We invite you to read more in our latest blog post and consider supporting this work as we approach our June 30 fiscal year-end. Your gift helps restore health, dignity, and hope. 📖 Read: https://lnkd.in/g5yb6-M8 💚 Donate: https://lnkd.in/gxXyv8qx #SmilesAreHealth #HealthcareIsAHumanRight #AHCH #DeltaDentalPartner #EndHomelessness #NonprofitWork #OralHealthAwareness #DignityThroughCare
