Journo friends! Are there any lovely folks in my network who cover tech or social media? 👀 If so, I'd love to add you to Buffer's PR list! We have some phenomenal, headline-grabbing data studies in the works, which we can give you early access to. (Seriously, the former editor in me is practically drooling over some of them.) Also, we are very nice and would like to know you. Pop a comment or reaction below and we'll get in touch. 😄

    Product Marketing @ Buffer

Last month I celebrated 10 years working at Buffer. The story of why I joined is a bit painful but worthwhile sharing I think. In 2015, I quit my job at a startup in Chicago and moved back home to Australia. My mum was sick was a terminal illness and needed full-time care. My dad was her primary caregiver, and I wanted to support him. So I began my job search. Remote work was in its infancy and Buffer was one of the few tech companies fully embracing it. As a marketer in my previous roles, I'd used Buffer and was very interested in their culture. From the outside, they seemed like the nicest people on the internet. (I later found out that they were heavily influenced by the book How To Win Friends and Influence People and by Zappos customer service culture). I was looking for a remote job because I needed some flexibility in my work schedule. I wanted to spend as much time with my mum as possible and I needed to help my dad too. I kept my eye on their job openings and finally I found one that I thought I *might* have a chance of getting: a customer research on their product team. I applied and after a truly unique interview experience I got the job! Remote work gave me the flexibility I desperately needed. I could be present for my family during one of the hardest periods of our lives while still doing meaningful work. I could adjust my schedule around care responsibilities and be there when it mattered most. That was ten years ago... I've literally spent my entire thirties at this company! During these years I got married, had kids, bought a house, and lost loved ones too. Buffer gave me space to navigate all of it. I've also had the privilege of traveling and making new friends all over the world. Remote or hybrid work is everywhere now but I'll always remember when Buffer was one of the few companies willing to bet on it, and how that choice changed the trajectory of my life. The flexibility to be there for my family while building my career made all the difference. To all the companies embracing distributed teams, you are doing an amazing thing for your team. ❤️

    Chief of Staff at Buffer

If you've read, liked, or commented recently, this is for you. I want to say a genuine thank you to the whip-smart and uplifting community here for helping me find my way back to the fun of social media. My sharing muscle had atrophied pretty badly recently, despite my deep belief in the power of transparency (and, of course, the existence of all the great tools out there to help plan, create, and schedule content, like Buffer!). I used to love sharing articles, stories, and questions on Twitter; I had a pretty vibrant online community there. When Twitter changed practically overnight, I found myself lost - my online community had been fractured, and I didn't see my values reflected in many social media platforms. For years, I thought of LinkedIn as "networking" - ugh. But now that I recognize how much this platform has changed and grown, I'm, much to my own surprise, finding my fingers tapping that blue icon more than ever. I'm so enjoying following along and chatting with y'all, and being encouraged and/or gently challenged in the comments. Thank you for sharing your stories, welcoming mine, and reminding me how fun the internet can be. That's all. 🫶

At Buffer, we don’t just build for creators, we build with them! 💙 Over the past few months, our Senior Product Manager, Nathan Nannenga, met with over 30 Buffer users across industries; from solo creators to growing teams, to learn how they plan, create, and publish content. What he found was both humbling and inspiring: ➡️ Many still see Buffer primarily as a scheduling tool. ➡️ Organizing content across drafts, ideas, and scheduled posts is harder than it should be. ➡️ Simplicity and visual clarity matter more than complex features. ➡️ AI should support creativity, not replace it. These conversations are shaping how we evolve Buffer; from a scheduling app into a true social workspace where you can brainstorm, organize, publish, and engage all in one calm place. Nathan shared the full story (and what’s next for Buffer) on the blog. 🔗 Full scoop: https://lnkd.in/eahZqfF4
