An outcomes agency at the intersection of business, politics, and policy. We make change possible.
About us
Bully Pulpit International (BPI) is an outcomes agency at the intersection of business, politics, and policy. Born in politics and founded by leaders of the Obama campaign, we apply our unique expertise from these experiences to create sophisticated and customized strategies for companies, causes and candidates. Our clients include established market leaders, new economy firms, philanthropists, CEOs, and elected officials. What these varied brands share in common is the growing need to establish differentiated and lasting bonds with their consumers in a world of fragmented media, deep skepticism, and rapidly changing culture. Reputation has never been more relevant to business ROI, and in our view requires consumers to believe — not only in what a brand is saying, but also in why. We combine proprietary technology and deeper insights to build believers with the speed and agility that today’s market requires. At Bully Pulpit International, we make change possible. To us, this is more than a commitment—it's a passion. Because we truly believe in the work we do.

College football isn’t just entertainment — it’s an arena for influence. BPI’s Rebecca Johnson uncovered some insights into how best to utilize game days as a lever for change: 👀 Attention on NCAA football games is highly concentrated, with 58% of viewers watching the games live, making these moments far less skippable than most other programming. 🏛️ According to Global Web Index, Agenda Setters are 34% more likely to watch college football than the general population. Additionally, they are 40% more likely to watch Bowl games. 📣 Some of the most followed college sports teams among Agenda Setters are the Georgetown Hoyas (237x more likely to follow than gen pop), Virginia Cavaliers (218x more likely) and Liberty Flames (217x more likely). 🏈 College football also ranks as the #2 sport for Agenda Setters, only 4% behind the NFL — while the next favorite, MLB, drops sharply by 46% but performance varies by team. This gap underscores football as a prime platform to reach this audience. Appearing in the ads that run alongside Agenda Setters’ favorite teams can bolster brands’ credibility. Amplify the impact by connecting your message to the sports conversation in ways that enhance the viewing experience or providing added value for fans, particularly when during high-emotion moments such as pre-game and halftime.

How do we serve the whole population when the center cannot hold? That’s the question I heard most in both Berlin and London this week. With the rise of Reform and the AfD, it’s easy to see why. Everyone is feeling the same pressures we do in the US - geopolitical changes, economic pressure, and polarization combined with radical transformation in technology and communications. It was great convene our clients across Europe to discuss these trends and share how our new platform, ChangeOS, can bring some clarity to this messy environment. Europe faces a critical period. But I leave feeling more optimistic that business and civic leaders across parties understand the gravity and are committed to leading through this change. Every year, we’ve marked la rentrée in 🇧🇪Brussels - the moment when the city is back at full speed after the summer - with a champagne party. 🥂 And every year, its growth has been a marker of our growth. Each time, a little bigger, a little bolder. Last night, in the beautiful Solvay Library next to the European Parliament, was no exception. These are high-stakes times for Europe and the EU, and our work for clients continues to grow in importance and have impact around the world. Thank you to all of our clients, partners, team, friends and wider family for your support and collaboration. Here’s to much more to come. 🙌 #beboldtbpi

Communicators haven't had the right tools to understand what content is shaping their reputation — until now. BPI's Ben LaBolt on how ChangeOS is changing the game. ⬇️
New product launch 🚨 : Traditional engagement metrics are broken. How many times have you seen a report saying that a news story or piece of content generated many millions of “potential impressions.” Potential impressions. What does that even mean?!? At BPI, we’ve been working to use AI to unlock new capabilities to analyze the entirety of news and social consumption to determine how many people are actually reading a news story or consuming a piece of content. We know this is important because content in consumers’ feeds, posts, ads, and headlines can shift public opinion about your brand in an instant. There are a lot of tools that can tell you what was said in a news story or a TikTok, but nothing can tell you how much it moved the needle on your brand’s reputation — which is why BPI built and is launching ChangeOS today. Answer questions like: are people actually reading that news story? Does that viral TikTok demand a response, and if so, what should your message be? How helpful or damaging is that piece of content? Should it be boosted, ignored or forcefully rebutted? Our latest innovation delivers actionable insights that shape strategy across marketing and communications, helping you decide when to lean in, push back, or hold steady to protect and strengthen reputation.

🎙️ Understand what matters, know how to respond, change the narrative, with ChangeOS. Why do we call this an operating system? Because ChangeOS does more than track media — it drives your planning and response strategy across communications and marketing. Capture content across news and social, all with the same precision as traditional media, and get a Change Score that tells you how much a piece of content is impacting your brand’s reputation. Start every week with a clear picture of active risks, simmering threats, and rising opportunities with ChangeOS, which: 📲 Tracks the content that’s really driving the conversation, including social video. 👀 Pinpoints the stories, posts, and ads people are actually reading and watching. 💥 Scores content based on how it’s changing opinions of your brand and reputation. ChangeOS is built for today’s world: where TikToks spark news cycles, influencer posts drive market moves, and the volume of content makes it harder than ever to know what actually matters. Fortune 50 brands across finance, retail, and healthcare are already using ChangeOS to make faster, smarter decisions about where to focus their attention. Reach out for a glimpse of what we’ve learned from ChangeOS so far. 📥

It hasn't even been two years since Bully Pulpit International started our Transatlantic journey. After acquiring three great teams, a third of our team is now in Europe across five countries. And we are just getting started. While a little early, thrilled that the news is now out that Jo-ann Robertson will be joining the band next year to help us take the vision to the next level. She's been a UK country leader, international CEO, and Cannes Jury Chair. There is no one with a better combination of modern approach, international experience, and amazing spunk that will supercharge the next chapter. Can't wait for you to meet her. https://lnkd.in/eNMjUUra
