I didn't know it when I first applied to the J School, but the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication would go on to have a transformative impact on my college and subsequent professional career. The classes I took and the professors who taught them made me a better writer and a more critical thinker. They cleared a path for me to write for the college paper and the alternative weekly in Madison. They provided a support network and were fine when I abandoned them after graduation to go work in policy and politics for the first decade of my career - they probably knew I'd be back... One of those professors was the outstanding Kathleen Bartzen Culver who I've stayed in touch with through the long years (sorry to age us, Katy) and who happens to be the current director of the school. I'm so grateful to be joining the UWSJMC's Board of Visitors and looking forward to helping the J School as it continues to educate some of the finest future journalists, communicators, marketers and advertisers in the business (including some at DKC!). https://lnkd.in/ehXb_3cM
