2 years ago, a former co-worker of mine accepted a Director of Operations role in a "fast-paced" environment after 3 years of working for herself. She quit 90 days into the job. (Fast-paced is always a red flag) The promise: Lead operational excellence, drive efficiencies, transform systems. The reality: Zero onboarding, disjointed training, and the assumption that because she was a leader, she could "figure it out" by reading outdated SOPs. Leaders need context just as much as entry-level employees do. Companies forget that even experienced leaders and executives need: → Process understanding → System training → Cultural integration → Relationship building After months of inefficiency and frustration, she made the decision most can't... to walk away. (I know, I know...especially in the 2025 job market) This entire situation could have been avoided if the company had invested in clear onboarding infrastructure. She tried to fill in the gaps on her own, but the burden should never fall on the person stepping in to lead. That’s why I love Tango! Tango makes it easy to document processes, walk through software step by step, and share knowledge in real time, without relying on tribal knowledge or outdated SOPs. It simplifies how teams learn, especially in fast-paced or remote-first environments, and gives new hires the clarity they need from day one. You can create and share your first 15 step-by-step walkthroughs completely free at https://www.tango.ai #TangoPartner If you’re not preparing your employees to succeed with the right systems, you’re setting them up to fail.

As we step into October, the start of Q4 and the heart of harvest season, I’m reminded that 3 things can be true at the same time. 🍃🍂🍁 People are being laid off. People are getting promoted. And yes… there is still time for new opportunities. (God is good every month which is why I make this post EVERY month 🙌🏾) September was a season of alignment. October is a season of acceleration. Fall matters It’s the season of harvest. It’s when promotion conversations begin behind closed doors. And while some companies are downsizing, others that were once cautious are hiring again. Here’s what I’m celebrating from September: → Entered exciting new partnerships → Two clients stepped into new roles → My feed is filled with promotions and job announcements → I finally made it to Cape Cod for some much-needed rest → I’m taking a major break from LinkedIn to focus on growing my TikTok: iamaprillittle This month, I pray you: → Land the role you’ve been waiting for → Build unshakable confidence → Communicate with clarity and power → Attract leadership that sees your value → Wait with patience for the opportunity that fits → Thrive in spaces that match your brilliance → Take rest seriously I’m slowing down here to build something new over there. I'm also NOT watching the news for the rest of the year. But I’m still rooting for your growth this month, quietly and intentionally. I hope October brings momentum, clarity, and courage to move with intention. And remember: Prayer is not passive. Now that we’ve prayed… get up and go get what you’ve prayed for Happy New Month and New Moon 🌑✨

AI can give knowledge but it cannot give wisdom. Last week I attended Elevate by monday.com 2025, hosted by monday. com in New York City. The conference focused on how AI is reshaping work, and every session showed how leaders can adapt. The theme across every unveiling was the shift from you doing the work to you partnering with AI. Here’s a recap of key takeaways: Roy Mann and Eran Zinman — Opening Keynote → The platform is moving from managing work to executing it on behalf of teams. → The next chapter of productivity is systems that act automatically. → Leaders must decide how these tools shape culture, strategy, and accountability. Daniel Lereya — Product Announcements → He presented monday CRM, Sales, Dev, Projects, Campaigns, and new monday Agents. → AI agents can qualify leads, schedule meetings, make calls, and support campaigns. → With templates and automation, the suite enables planning, execution, and measurement. Harris Beber — The GTM Playbook → Strategy is being redefined as AI transforms how organizations learn what works. → Data quality and collaboration now determine which campaigns succeed. → With monday campaigns, teams accelerate execution and measure results faster. Panel on Human Connection and AI Featuring Leah Smart, Corinne Skyler, Jessica Kowalski → AI should enhance, not replace, human connection. → Judgment remains essential in every critical decision. → Leah Smart said it best: “AI can give knowledge but it cannot give wisdom.” Aprajita Jain — The Human Edge → Google’s tools open new ways to problem solve, even daily tasks like home repair. → Organizations use red teams to test AI, uncover unsafe behaviors, and reduce risk. → Her point: AI can guide action, but only people provide empathy and trust. Adam Grant with Shiran Nawi — Leadership and Culture → Partnering with AI requires humility and foresight. → Adam Grant reflected on early experiences coaching senior professionals. → Together, they explored careers by 2035 and predicted a shift back to guilds. A huge thank you to the monday.com team for curating an event that sparked meaningful conversations about leadership in the age of AI. From thoughtful gifts to community dinners, every detail was intentional. And thank you to the creators I connected with onsite: Andrew Yeung, Namanh Kapur, Jean Kang, and Lauren Vriens. Special gratitude to Alina Bamberger, Jasmine Hammond, Bridie Castiel, and Brianna Hidalgo for making this experience unforgettable. Already looking forward to next year. AI is not the death of wisdom. It is the beginning of more time to create wisdom through lived experiences, deeper strategy, and judgment no tool can replace. Thank you, monday :) #mondaypartner

The best leader I have ever worked with had no formal title. (this was many years ago when I worked as a pharmacy tech) She led through influence, wisdom, and genuine care for the team. While she was busy being an amazing leader, she wasn’t getting: • The compensation her impact deserved • The voice in rooms where decisions were made • The power to create systemic change All things she needed to support her FAMILY. The CEO of IKEA recently claimed he became CEO because he “didn’t care about titles.” With respect, that is like saying you became a millionaire because you didn’t care about money. Here is what I tell my executive coaching clients: Titles are not ego boosters. They are: • Your seat at decision-making tables • The key to securing equal pay • Recognition that matches your proven expertise Some people with titles don’t deserve them. Some people without titles lead brilliantly. And still, titles matter for equity and advancement. If you don’t want titles, that is perfectly fine. But if you do, own it. (and bring people with you that's the point) There is power in naming what you want. Impact without recognition is not a breakthrough. It is a path to burnout and exploitation. And you deserve both impact and recognition. -- Ready to stop acting like an Executive and become the Executive? A few years ago, a connection of mine waited two years for a promotion that never came. Then Disney called, and she landed the Director of Talent Management role she had been working toward all along. Despite leading key initiatives and receiving strong feedback, she kept hearing the same lines: “Leadership sees your potential.” “It’s just not the right time.” “You’re doing everything right, just keep going.” “Be patient, it will come.” It pointed to a few reasons: We're comfortable with you in your current role. We're in no rush to promote you, and you're not a priority. There was a perception/political gap that would be extremely difficult to close, given the lack of actionable feedback given. She stopped asking questions... She finally asked herself a better question. What would it look like to get ready for a better table? (because there are always things to work on, we did this together) She began sharpening her communication skills to speak with more intention and strategic clarity. She practiced executive presence in meetings, feedback loops, and decision-making conversations across the board. She stopped waiting for someone else to recognize her readiness and decided to own it fully. Her value never changed. The environment recognizing it did. --- Speak your value with clarity and confidence. Most people pray for the next opportunity without preparing for who they’ll need to become. Pray for the courage to speak clearly when shrinking would feel safer. The discernment to recognize manipulation dressed up as mentorship. The presence to stay rooted when the room starts spinning with ego and agenda. The peace to choose integrity over appeasement, even when it costs you approval. The self-trust to take up space before anyone gives you permission. Because the wrong habits don’t disappear with the right title. They just show up in fancier rooms with higher consequences. And when you are steady on the inside, no external chaos can unseat your power.
