💡 What happens when you give talented people the freedom to step away from their day jobs and build something new? At Graphcore, that's exactly what our Hackathons are all about. It's a chance to step away from the day-to-day, join forces with colleagues from across the company, and work on an idea that sparks your curiosity for a few days. The results can be surprisingly impactful. Our internal LLM started life as a Hackathon project, and last year's winning team created a model visualisation tool that they hoped could evolve into something real users would benefit from. Not every project has to change the world, though. Sometimes it's about solving an annoying problem, making work easier, learning a new skill, or simply seeing what happens when smart people are given the freedom to experiment. One thing we'd love to see more of? Ideas from across the business. Great ideas aren't reserved for engineers, and some of the biggest opportunities come from the people closest to a challenge. So here's to the builders, the brainstormers, the last-minute bug fixers, and the teams that somehow turn a wild idea into a working demo before the deadline. May the best project win. 🏆

Today marks the start of Men’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The reality is that mental health is something we should be talking about all year round. At Graphcore, we recognise that many men face barriers when it comes to speaking openly about their mental wellbeing. Burnout, stress, and mental health challenges are real, and there are no quick fixes. Creating a supportive culture takes ongoing effort, conversation, and commitment. We aim to foster an environment where people feel comfortable being themselves, asking for support, and talking about difficult topics when they need to. Whether that's through our Wellbeing Slack channel, where employees share experiences, advice, and resources, or through initiatives that support healthy work-life balance, we're continually working to make wellbeing part of everyday life. Our employees also have access to professional support through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), because we know that sometimes the right support comes from outside the workplace. To mark the week, we asked members of our team to share what helps protect their mental wellbeing. Their answers are a reminder that wellbeing looks different for everyone — whether it's exercise, time outdoors, family, hobbies, mindfulness, or simply talking to someone you trust. The statistics from the Bupa Wellbeing Index remind us why these conversations matter: ▪️ 50% of men have struggled with their mental health at some point, yet fewer than half have sought medical advice. ▪️Men are three times more likely than women to die by suicide. ▪️Only 24% of men who have experienced mental health difficulties say they would talk to friends about it. Small conversations can make a big difference. What helps you look after your mental wellbeing?

Has it really only been a week? 🎉 One week ago, we officially opened our new Taiwan office, and since then it's already been buzzing with activity, collaboration, and plenty of excitement about what's ahead. From bringing teams together in person to strengthening connections with our manufacturing and supply-chain partners, it's been great to see the space quickly become part of everyday life at Graphcore. Taiwan is an important location for us, and we're excited to continue growing our presence here. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the opening such a success. Looking back at the photos, the celebrations, and the energy in the room, we're even more excited about what comes next. And we're just getting started. 🚀 If you're based in Taiwan and interested in joining Graphcore, we're hiring across multiple teams and would love to hear from you. https://hubs.la/Q04kVhdh0

At Graphcore, we tackle hard problems together. That comes with challenge, pressure, and periods of intense focus. But high performance isn't about pushing through at all costs — it's about knowing how to sustain it. Ahead of Men’s Mental Health Week, we spoke with Rami Sinno, SVP Systems Engineering at Graphcore, about how he approaches mental wellbeing in demanding environments. One message stood out: "Watch for the symptoms and build resilience." Resilience isn't something that appears overnight. It's built over time through self-awareness, healthy habits, meaningful connections, and knowing when you're getting too close to the edge. Some of the ways he stays grounded include: ✅ Taking a short walk when stress starts to build ✅ Making time for activities outside of work that help him switch off ✅ Staying connected with colleagues and friends ✅ Focusing on a shared mission and purpose ✅ Recognising unhealthy coping mechanisms before they become habits As Rami puts it: "We're all human beings here. We're not a bunch of machines. We're all under stress, we're all in this together." In high-performing teams, stress isn't something that can be eliminated. But it can be recognised, managed, and talked about. As Men’s Mental Health Week approaches, it's a good reminder to check in with yourself and those around you. Sometimes resilience starts with a conversation. #MensMentalHealthWeek #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #Resilience #WorkplaceWellbeing #Graphcore

🎉 New Graphcore office in Taiwan 🎉 Yesterday saw the opening of our new office in Taiwan which will serve as one of our main operations’ hubs. Taiwan is a key location due to its proximity to suppliers - helping us maintain deep relationships with manufacturing and supply-chain partners and better support supplier-facing engineering activities. It also opens access to specialised hardware and manufacturing talent in the area. Currently, we have a Systems Engineering presence, but we are hiring across MTP, PTD, Supply Chain and Quality so if you’d like to join the team in Taiwan please keep an eye on our hiring page and get in touch!
