Today, we turn 35. Following the introduction of the HFE Act in 1990, the HFEA was set up on 1 August 1991 - making us the first regulator of our kind in the world. As we reflect on 35 years, we're looking at a few of the key milestones from our past and how the sector has changed.

Thank you to all who participated in our annual Horizon Scanning Meeting at #ESHRE2026 yesterday in London. Discussions explored oocyte rejuvenation, advances in oocyte in vitro maturation, non-invasive ploidy assessment, as well as the environmental determinants of fertility and their clinical implications.
