Earlier this week at SCSP's #DiscoverySummit, IQT's VP of Technology Dr. Jessica Dymond joined researchers, builders, and policymakers on stage to discuss how AI is accelerating scientific discovery, transforming R&D, and reshaping the future of innovation. With 300+ attendees spanning government, academia, and industry, the event tackled a defining question of this moment: how do we turn AI from a research tool into a discovery engine and ensure AI-powered science strengthens U.S. national security? One takeaway was clear: science is speeding up, and the nations that harness AI for discovery will shape what comes next. What warfighters need on Day 100 of a conflict can be completely different from those deployed on Day 10. In a new blog, IQT CEO Steve Bowsher outlines the rise of what he calls Forward-Deployed Conflict: a new era defined by autonomous systems, rapidly adaptable weaponry, and the ability to move intelligence, manufacturing, and integration closer to the point of need. Colossal Biosciences, a member of IQT’s portfolio, continues to push the boundaries of de-extinction science. Axios reported this week that Colossal is now in talks to raise new funding at a valuation of over $20B, up from $10.2B in early 2025. The team recently succeeded in hatching chicks from artificial eggs, a key step toward the eventual revival of the South Island giant moa, building on earlier work with the dire wolf and woolly mammoth. Beyond species revival, Colossal's underlying platform supports genetic preservation work for endangered species, including efforts with the U.S. government and Dubai's Museum of the Future.
