We are a coalition of diverse Americans fighting for our democracy and rights.
About us
The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a diverse coalition of more than 240 organizations representing the majority of America. As some try to pit us against each other, We the Majority know that everyone benefits from one another's liberation. Together, we use our collective power to protect our multiracial democracy and expand the rights of all people during this era of unprecedented threats to our progress. We won’t go backwards. Born out of the Civil Rights Movement 75 years ago, The Leadership Conference has been an essential convener, thought leader, and advocate for public policies that make our country more fair and free. The Leadership Conference is a 501(c)(4) organization that engages in legislative advocacy. It was founded in 1950 and has coordinated national lobbying efforts on behalf of every major civil rights law since 1957.

BREAKING: Trump signed an executive order banning “woke AI.” This order tries to ban federal contracts for chatbots that guard against racism and discrimination. There is no such thing as woke AI. There's AI that discriminates, and then there's AI that actually works for all of us. By following our Innovation Framework, corporate leaders can do right by their obligation to civil rights. Learn more at InnovationFramework.org.

Our team had a fabulous time connecting with journalists last week at #NAHJ25 in Chicago, sharing information about our organization and our Education, Census and Data Equity work. Special thanks to the NAHJ (National Association of Hispanic Journalists) for the EXPO opportunity! If you stopped by our booth and would like to follow up with our press team, please email us at press@civilrights.org. The media’s reporting on the stories that impact our civil and human rights could not be more vital right now.

In the new episode of our podcast #PodForTheCause, we explore the harms of the Trump Administration’s “unleashing” of law enforcement and what that means for immigration enforcement and policing. Listen as Vanessa Cardenas of America's Voice explains how spreading falsehoods about immigrants is used as a weapon to justify cruel policies.
