About us

Malaria Partners International is a non-profit organization started by Rotarians with a vision. Our Mission is to ignite an international Rotarian campaign to end malaria. As a U.S. based organization, our job is to connect individuals and organizations that are passionate about ending malaria with like-minded others, and eventually to the resources required to complete the task. We are Rotarians, and have seen first-hand how this synergy works. 📊 Impact in Numbers: Community Health Workers Trained: 4,056 Population Served by Community Health Workers: 2,083,000 Funding for Small Grants Projects: $296,359 Countries Awarded Small Grants: 16 💡 Small Grants Program: Our Small Grants Program empowers Rotary Clubs in malaria-endemic regions to take direct action in controlling the spread of malaria in their communities. Each local project is carefully designed with community leaders, utilizing best malaria control practices, and setting measurable and attainable goals. 🌐 Global Grants: Since its inception, Malaria Partners International (MPI) has been instrumental in spearheading twelve significant malaria Global grants, alongside dozens of smaller grants, in malaria-endemic regions across the globe. • In its first year, the #Zambia Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge trained over 1,000 Community Health Workers. By next April, all 2,086 CHWs will be deployed, reaching more than 1 million Zambians with essential care. Read Eric Liswaniso's reflection ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gTcUr-Qv

  • UNICEF Nigeria ― Malaria Vaccine: Panacea, Reigniting Hope by Salahudeen Bello "Bashar Umar, the first child to be vaccinated in #Nigeria during the initial Malaria vaccine rollout campaign in Kebbi state, sits cradled in the lap of his 35-year-old mother Nafisa Muhammadu. Nafisa arrived sharp at 7:30am marking attendance at the rollout ceremony even though the event was to commence only by 10:00am. Her determination to prioritise the health and wellbeing of her children sets a very fine example for her people. She waits patiently in the queue, for the event to reach the final phase where her child gets the immunization dose against the deadly Malaria virus. This young mother has witnessed first-hand how Malaria has destroyed entire households." Keep reading: https://lnkd.in/gsxidq7m

  • Tomorrow is #WorldMosquitoDay🦟 “We commemorate this day as it is a crucial reminder of the distressing impact of #malaria, a serious disease spread by mosquitoes. As we mark this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to fighting malaria and protecting our #communities. We can all play a role in preventing #mosquito bites by using insecticide-treated bed nets, wearing protective clothing, and applying insect repellent. Early diagnosis and treatment are also key to saving lives. We work together to prevent malaria and stay safe by staying informed. By taking these simple steps, we can protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from this deadly disease. MPZim is joining the fight against malaria and let us make a difference!” – Malaria Partners Zimbabwe Support #Rotarians leading malaria elimination projects: https://lnkd.in/geZAFTZ

  • "Each night as I crawl under the net to sleep, I’m thinking about the people who, to protect themselves from #malaria, sleep under the net each night. I’ve been trying to come up with three words each night to describe what I’m thinking. With only one night under the net so far, my three words are grace, warmth and solidarity." -Laura Cosacchi, Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club, Under the Net Challenge Participant The Under the Net Challenge is more than a fundraiser. It is a chance to connect, reflect, and stand in solidarity with those who face the risk of malaria every day. • 🦠 Did you know? Some #mosquitoes are vectors. A vector is any living organism that can transmit infectious pathogens between humans or from animals to humans. Mosquitoes become vectors when they carry viruses, parasites, or bacteria that can make people sick. This happens when a mosquito bites an infected person or animal and later bites someone else, passing along the pathogen in its saliva. Mosquitoes are responsible for transmitting diseases including #malaria, dengue, Zika, yellow fever, West Nile virus, and more. #WorldMosquitoDay #MosquitoFacts #LetsEndMalaria

  • World Mosquito Day is a week away!🦟 On August 20, 1897, British doctor Sir Ronald Ross made a groundbreaking discovery: malaria is transmitted by mosquitoes. #WorldMosquitoDay was founded to commemorate this moment and to raise awareness of the ongoing fight against one of the world’s deadliest diseases. Your Rotary Club can take action for World Mosquito Day by participating in the Under the Net Challenge. Sleeping under a mosquito net offers a glimpse into the challenges millions endure each night to protect themselves from a single mosquito bite. The #UndertheNetChallenge epitomizes the #Rotarian value of learning and service for the greater benefit to all. It is only by understanding how others live that we can truly begin to partner with our fellow Rotarians. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/dujN54ZC

As a scientist, I often work behind the scenes, supporting interventions aimed at improving public health. However, privileged to step into the field during the Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) training, where I observed and supported Community Health Workers (CHWs) being equipped with the critical knowledge and tools needed to manage malaria, diarrhoea, and pneumonia was a breath of fresh air. I extend a heartfelt round of applause to our newly trained CHWs of Malaria Partners International-Zambia ICCM – Cohort 11 for their brilliant performance and unwavering dedication.Supporting this initiative in my capacity as both a Rotarian and a Biomedical Scientist passionate about public health impact was an empowering and eye-opening experience. It reaffirmed that meaningful change happens when science, service, and community come together. Because no initiative thrives in isolation. To every CHW stepping forward after this training: your work matters. Your service saves lives. Together, we move one step closer to a malaria-free future. #Well Done!! 🥳 🥳 🥳

This past week, I had the privilege of coordinating and leading a training that culminated yesterday in the graduation of 35 Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) facilitators representing 10 health facility catchment areas in Ngabwe and 12 in Chisamba district. This was more than just a training — it was an investment in healthier futures. I’ve truly enjoyed seeing our focus expand beyond malaria to tackling other childhood illnesses like diarrhea, malnutrition, and pneumonia. These diseases of poverty cause unnecessary suffering, and I am passionate about reducing their impact on our communities. Good sanitation is a child’s right. Trainings like these promote hygiene, improve livelihoods, strengthen local economies, and reduce inequalities. This work is part of the Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge (RHCC) — a $5 million initiative supporting two provinces in Zambia. RHCC is making a real difference by empowering local leaders, improving public health, and helping communities thrive. A heartfelt thanks to our Executive Director, Martha Lungu, and Rotary Club of Kabwe President Mumba Kolala who joined in awarding certificates to the facilitators. Together, we are proving that sustainable change is possible. #RotaryInAction #HealthyCommunities #PeopleOfAction #SanitationForAll #ReducingInequalities

ROTARY CLUB CHAMPIONS MALARIA AWARENESS IN CHINSANKA COMMUNITY OUTREACH Chinsanka, Samfya District In a concerted effort to curb the persistent threat of malaria, the Rotary Club of Samfya yesterday led a robust community sensitisation campaign in Chinsanka, under the auspices of the club's ongoing Malaria Elimination Project. The initiative sought to heighten public consciousness on malaria prevention, timely access to treatment, and the effective utilisation of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs). Addressing residents gathered at the event, Charter President Rotarian Denis Mukunta reflected on the Club’s enduring impact since its establishment in 2023, underscoring its collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Health to advance healthcare outcomes in Samfya District. Rotary Club of Samfya President, Rotarian Cletus Musangulule, highlighted the strategic backing and funding provided by Rotary International through Malaria Partners International, reaffirming the organisation’s unwavering commitment to eradicating malaria. He expounded on the Malaria Elimination Project’s broader vision and the Chinsanka community engagement as a vital touchpoint in empowering households with life-saving knowledge and tools. Adding a practical dimension to the proceedings, community health worker Mercy Mwila, orientated under the Rotary Club of Samfya-led Malaria Elimination Project, offered targeted health education to the assembled crowd. Her address covered essential information on preventing malaria, recognising symptoms early, and ensuring correct usage of ITNs. The community engagement was animated by a vibrant performance from the Sabangwe Drama Group, whose theatrical enactments creatively reinforced the health messages shared throughout the event, ensuring resonance across all age groups. This sensitisation forms part of the ongoing grassroots engagements by the Rotary Club of Samfya in partnership with Ministry of Health across Samfya District. Malaria Partners International
