Intern Resume Building Workshop Recap 📄💫 Last Tuesday, we hosted a hands-on resume building workshop for our interns, led by HR Manager Olivia C., HR Coordinator Kirstie Murillo, and Workplace Experience Lead Joachris Ortiz. Each intern had the opportunity to meet 1:1 with our team for personalized resume feedback and guidance. During these sessions, our HR team shared best practices, offered tips and tricks, and made thoughtful suggestions to help each intern strengthen and refine their resume. To support their continued growth, we also created and shared a Resume Guide they can use both for revisions and as a future resource. It was inspiring to see the curiosity, thoughtfulness, and drive our interns brought to the workshop—we’re so proud of their efforts. July Wellness Recap: Honoring Disability Pride Month This July, we celebrated Disability Pride Month to honor the strength, diversity, and brilliance of the disability community. We were proud to welcome Tiffany A. Yu, MSc, founder of Diversability and author of The Anti-Ableist Manifesto, for a session titled The Unseen Glow: Cultivating Inner Beauty and Self-Acceptance. Tiffany led a conversation on how self-worth, identity, and inner resilience shape how we show up in the world—and why beauty always starts within. Throughout the month, we also highlighted trailblazers in the disability community and shared resources to help our team deepen their understanding of disability pride and representation in beauty. Huge thank you to Tiffany for sharing her voice with us—and to our Milk Makeup team for showing up with curiosity, openness, and allyship. Disability Pride doesn’t end in July. Chill Foundation Alumni Headshot Event at Milk Makeup Last Thursday at our NYC HQ, we hosted alumni of the Chill Foundation, an organization that builds a more equitable outdoor community for young people through boardsports. Our team came together to celebrate these soon-to-be college students with a packed itinerary, including a photo shoot, 1:1 mentoring, and, of course, pizza. Special thanks to makeup artist and beauty expert Ehlie Luna, who helped each alum get camera-ready, and photographers Marcus Cooper and Nelson N. Castillo, who snapped headshots of everyone Living Their Look. We also paired each alum up with an MMU volunteer for 1:1 chats, where our team shared their career advice and personal journeys. Thanks to Blossom Brown, susan collins, Megan Tompkins, Alexis Gaskin, Jamilah Spleen, Lindsay Schallon, and Chisom Okeke for taking the time to support and share your tips. Our HR Coordinator, Kirstie Murillo, also led a conversation about our internship program—and shared expert advice on networking and interviewing. And what’s a trip to Milk Makeup without a tour? Shoutout to Joachris O., our Workplace Experience Lead, who gave the group a behind-the-scenes look at life at Milk. We wrapped with a pizza party and goodie bags—both to celebrate the alumni’s day at Milk and their hard work. Internships at Milk are so much more than spreadsheets and admin work. We’re all about making sure our interns are ready to tackle the real world after walking through our halls. Case in point: We recently held an interview skills workshop led by our HR Manager, Olivia C., where she covered how to nail an interview and land your dream job. From prep and communication to follow-up strategies, our interns got a full rundown of skills they’ll need once they graduate. Workplace Experience Lead, Joachris O. and HR Coordinator, Kirstie Murillo also shared their best tips on how to confidently answer common questions. (“What are your weaknesses?” No sweat.) We also held a live mock interview to give our interns the chance to practice their skills in real time. Big thanks to Olivia, Joachris, and Kirstie for leading such an engaging session, and to our interns for bringing great questions and curiosity to the conversation. Can’t wait to see what you all do.
