So fun to start the morning with Alex and his podcast. We got it done in less than 15min!
Helping clients stay relevant, through consultancy & off-line to digital content. Ex- Microsoft & Verizon Director, $1.5B+ in store projects. Host of The Retail Podcast, founder of RetailNews.AI
Shopify • Walmart • Amazon • Target • Pop Mart – what a week in US retail. Our (Jill Dvorak, MBA & I) first live show across YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitch landed right as the biggest names in retail reshaped the industry: Shopify rolled out checkout inside ChatGPT for its 1M+ merchants. A seismic shift: shopping without the website. Target and Amazon fired the starting gun on October holiday deals, dragging the Golden Quarter forward yet again. Walmart set a new standard by removing synthetic dyes and 30+ additives from its private label foods. A health-first move every parent can cheer. Pop Mart is bringing Labubu mania to Times Square in 2026 – a 10-year bet on character collectibles. Amazon also launched a new “Amazon Grocery” brand, with most items under $5. Private label, price-first, and positioned for mass adoption. The big picture? Holiday shopping now starts in early October. AI is changing how people check out. Private labels are no longer just margin plays, they’re trust plays. And retail is moving faster than regulators, analysts, and sometimes even customers.
