The Department of Energy announced that they are banning the words “emissions” and “climate change” in their internal and public communications. “Pretending it’s not raining won’t stop us from getting wet. And banning words won’t ban the consequences of a changing climate and dangerous emissions.” said Shannon Heyck-Williams, associate vice president for climate and energy at the National Wildlife Federation. Ignoring the crises facing our wildlife, environment, and health will not make them go away - we need leaders that prioritize climate action, not climate denial. Monarch butterflies are back in motion, fluttering their way through Texas on a 3,000-mile journey that is part science, part magic, and all heart. While their wings may be delicate, their story is anything but. This fall, as monarchs head south toward the mountains of Michoacán, Mexico, they’re not just chasing warmer weather — they’re chasing survival. But thanks to a unique partnership between national homebuilder Taylor Morrison and the National Wildlife Federation, hope is growing in neighborhoods across the country. “We are at a really special time of year right now because we are entering the fall migration of the monarch butterfly,” said Maria Fowler, climate resilient habitat director with the National Wildlife Federation.
