A fascinating exchange at Quantum.Tech 2025 during the Industry Disruptor Panel on optimization challenges: 🔹 Helmut G. Katzgraber, Former Senior Practice Lead of Advanced Solutions at Amazon: “Once you have an optimization problem with 100,000 variables and 10,000 constraints, you will definitely give up on it...Talent is the biggest blocker right now. If we achieve quantum advantage we don’t have enough resource to deliver it. There will be a skills gap for another 10 years as a PHD is required” 🔹 Harry Buhrman, Chief Scientist for Quantum Algorithms and Innovation at Quantinuum: “You should look at small data, big compute problems. And they're also present in optimization. … It’s important that we look at optimization problems that are hard classically, for which we can find a good, easy, quick quantum solution. It won’t be for a world-changing problem at the beginning, but that is the start - that’s where we have to go.” A perfect example of the critical conversations happening here in Rotterdam - where today’s challenges meet tomorrow’s solutions. #QT25 #QuantumTech

At the Industry Disruptor Panel here at Quantum.Tech 2025, we heard from Harry Buhrman, Chief Scientist for Quantum Algorithms and Innovation at Quantinuum. On the topic “Mitigating the hype! Where does quantum really stand?” he shared the Quantinuum roadmap, highlighting global collaborations designed to deliver industrial advantage: “We have teamed up with others around the world to deliver this. This will eventually lead to industrial advantage.” A clear reminder of the power of collaboration in turning quantum promise into reality. #QT25 #QuantumTech

One of the founding scientists at Honeywell Quantum Solutions, which later merged with Cambridge Quantum to form Quantinuum, Dr. Lee is best known for her foundational work on phase control of geometric gates, which not only enabled the advancement of commercial trapped-ion systems but is still implemented on our machines today.
