Honoring the best work in social media and digital. 🐳
About us
The Shorty Awards (also known as “The Shortys”) honor the most innovative work in digital and social media, by organizations in all sectors and sizes, as well as individual creatives and creators from around the world. Founded in 2008, the Shortys’ mission is to celebrate, inspire and push the boundaries of excellence in digital storytelling. Entries are judged on the merits of creativity, strategy, and engagement by the Real Time Academy, a body of hand-selected industry experts and leaders. The public can also weigh in and select their favorite Shorty Awards contenders during Audience Honor Voting. Notable previous winners include brands, agencies, nonprofits, media, and production companies such as Airbnb, Marvel Studios, HBO, HRC, UNICEF, Nestle, BMW, Paramount+, Digitas, Wieden + Kennedy, 72andSunny etc, as well as influential artists, scientists, authors, and activists such as Greta Thunberg, Bill Nye, Michelle Obama, Trevor Noah, Lizzo, Malala Yousafzai, Conan O’Brien, Lady Gaga and more. Currently, the Shortys have two annual competitions, the flagship Shorty Awards and Shorty Impact Awards dedicated to honoring the best work with a positive social impact.

Carrying Forward Dr. Jane Goodall’s Legacy Yesterday, the world mourned Dr. Jane Goodall, a pioneer whose work reshaped how we see animals, the planet, and ourselves. Her influence went far beyond conservation, inspiring storytellers and changemakers to ask bigger questions about responsibility, humanity, and hope. Her legacy reminds us that shaping a better world doesn’t end with one generation. It’s a baton we all carry. Dr. Goodall’s work proved change is possible. Now, it’s on us to carry her legacy into the next Decade of Impact, and prove that change is inevitable. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e23gJZhS Photo credit: The Jane Goodall Institute

A big thanks to Net Influencer for including me in their roundtable discussion on YouTube’s Dynamic Ad Insertion! Here's what I think: 💡 Great opportunity for creators to resell their back catalog. No re-editing videos or losing monetization opportunities. 💡 Outdated ads will decrease: New ads can be dynamically placed in older content that’s still getting views! And when it comes to brand deals: ➡️ More creative and pricing options, brands can choose placements not just in new uploads, but also in older videos (often at a lower fee). ➡️ Imagine pushing ads across an entire creator’s video library, not just the latest content. ➡️ Better performance insights, especially from past videos that continue to perform. Some challenges may arise -> mismatched ads with older content, regional compliance issues, etc. If well executed = real moonshot for creators and marketers alike 🚀 👉 Check out what other industry leaders are saying about this shift: https://lnkd.in/guZPFVHx Kudos to all the experts who joined the discussion: Sarah McNabb, Andy Cloyd, Andrew Goldsmith, Kevin Lenhart, Monica Khan, Mel Tsiaprazis, Rodrigo Abdalla 🔜 VidSummit, Eric Bogard, Max Fleming, Michael Kuzminov, Danielle Pederson, Vahag Karayan, Tony Carne, Jake Kitchiner, Paul Sampson, Brandon Pourmorady, Andrea Sarhis, Ahad Khan, Alex Hilburn, Aurélie (Lili) Sauthier, and Stephen Titus. #CreatorEconomy #InfluencerMarketing #ContentStrategy #NetInfluencer

🐋✨ What does progress sound like? At Worth’s #TechonomyImpact 2025, our panel “From Moonshots to Movements: Master the Algorithm of Progress” explored how science, storytelling, education, and policy come together to drive change. One highlight was hearing David Gruber share about Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative)’s work to decode whale communication, literally giving voice to sperm whales. It’s a powerful reminder that groundbreaking science, when paired with compelling storytelling, can shift culture, policy, and markets. Check out how sperm whales socialize in Dominica (credit: Amanda Cotton). Listen closely — this is the language of progress ⬇️

Yesterday at Worth Media Group #TechonomyImpact, our Managing Director Junmian Sun had the privilege of moderating the panel “From Moonshots to Movements: Master the Algorithm of Progress”. Together with an inspiring group of leaders, David Gruber, Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative), Alexander Lazarou, Getty Images, Meredith McDermott, NYC Public Schools, and Jennifer Williams, EdD, Take Action Global, we explored how bold ideas evolve into lasting impact. Key themes from the conversation: ✔️ Science into Movements: How groundbreaking research, like decoding whale communication, gains traction through storytelling. ✔️ The Storytelling Multiplier: Why images, narratives, and education are critical to inspire action beyond data points. ✔️ Smart Adaptation: How policy, markets, and schools can separate headlines from real impact. ✔️ Partnerships at Scale: How collaborations across sectors unlock innovation and accelerate progress. A huge thank you to our panelists for bringing such diverse perspectives and actionable insights on how to scale good intentions into real-world results. #shortyawards
