76% of consumers get frustrated when personalization is based on assumptions from past clicks and behavior. As marketers, we often over-engineer our models and forget the simplest path: just ask customers directly. And then segment based on the attributes/events properties with responses. There are so many good use cases for asking the prospect/customer directly rather than assuming based on clicks, behavior in the app or website. Let’s just take a few: 1️⃣ Marketing attribution (where did you really hear about us?) 2️⃣ Website visitor enrichment (what brought you here today?) 3️⃣ Post-trial feedback (why didn’t you upgrade?) 4️⃣ Lead nurturing (why aren’t you ready to talk yet?) 5️⃣ Product engagement signals (which features matter most? how well does the product meet your needs?) ..and tons of more, in each customer journey stage. 👉 Drop a comment below on the customer journey stage where you’d most like to increase conversions.
