  • Our team was proud to support the Canadian Geotechnical Conference and 9th Canadian Permafrost Conference — #GeoManitoba2025 — as a Gold Sponsor in Winnipeg, MB.    This year’s theme, “Stronger Together,” reflects our collaborative, innovative, and science-led approach to complex northern infrastructure.    🔍 Our experts, Thomas Bradshaw and David McBean, presented on their integrated approach “Connecting the Dots: Combining Geotechnical and Geophysical Investigation Methods to Characterize Permafrost Soils along a 170 km-long All-Season Road in the Northwest Territories.” They combined geotechnical drilling, GPR, CCR, and spatial data mapping—demonstrating how data-driven methods reduce environmental impact and enable more resilient infrastructure across Canada’s North.    🌐 Vladislav Roujanski moderated a session for the Canadian Permafrost Association’s Regional Scale presentation, facilitating conversations that link local expertise to international permafrost science and policy.    📘 The formal presentation of the new Glossary of Permafrost Science and Engineering was a highlight of the conference. The Canadian Permafrost Association’s Permafrost Terminology Action Group (PTAG), including our Vladislav Roujanski and Ed Hoeve, recently completed the glossary to help build clarity and consistency across the field.    👏 Thank you to everyone who connected with us at the conference! If you’d like to talk more about permafrost, infrastructure adaptation, integrated site characterization, or other northern infrastructure topics, reach out to our team:    Thomas Bradshaw, David McBean, Vladislav Roujanski, Kaya Sokukawa, and Ryan Harras    Canadian Geotechnical Society - National Capital Region | Canadian Permafrost Association #GeoManitoba2025 #GeotechnicalEngineering #Permafrost #NorthernInfrastructure #ClimateResilience #PTAG #LeadingWithScience #LifeAtTetraTech

  • Our Vancouver Geo-environmental team rolled up their sleeves at Second Beach in Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC, to help protect our beautiful coastline. Teaming up with the City of Vancouver's Neighbourhood Clean-Up Party initiative, they spent the day removing litter and contributing to a cleaner, greener community. The team wrapped up the day with a cozy after-party, gathering around a firepit to celebrate their efforts and enjoy some well-earned relaxation together. #LifeAtTetraTech #TtGivesBack

If your facility has an SPCC Plan in place, that’s a solid start, but when’s the last time you reviewed it? My colleague Jason Witter recently shared a great overview on when and why SPCC Plans need to be updated—from equipment changes and site layout modifications to the five-year review requirement. Read Jason’s breakdown of the triggers that can put your plan and your facility at risk if not addressed: https://lnkd.in/eEw4VXMN If you have questions about your current plan or how to stay ahead of EPA expectations, send us a DM, or reach out to our team at ehs@tetratech.com. Today, we wear orange. 🧡 On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Tetra Tech employees came together to honour Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities. Wearing orange is a reminder of the importance of listening, learning, and taking meaningful steps toward reconciliation. This day encourages us to reflect on the truth of Canada’s history, to remember the children who never returned home, and to commit to building a future grounded in respect, understanding, and partnership with Indigenous Peoples. At Tetra Tech, we recognize that reconciliation is not just a day - it’s an ongoing journey. #NDTR #TruthAndReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters #TetraTech #LifeAtTetraTech

Technical Solutions Group Leader - Hydraulics

Plumbing often sits in the background of design discussions but it’s the backbone of how buildings actually work. Get it wrong, and the ripple effects are immediate: higher costs, wasted water, ongoing maintenance, and real frustration for the people using the space. What I’ve learned over the years is that the problems are usually avoidable. Oversized systems. Poor drainage. No way to monitor performance. These aren’t glamorous issues, but they make or break a project. A pragmatic, practical approach at the design stage nearly always pays off in the long run. And it matters beyond the building itself. Globally, billions of people still lack access to safe water and clean sanitation. Water scarcity is one of the defining challenges of our time. Every litre we design more carefully, every system we size more responsibly, contributes to a bigger picture than just one project. This article shares some of my thoughts on where plumbing design can go wrong and how smarter, simpler decisions early on can deliver better outcomes for budgets, for people, and for the planet 🌎 Tetra Tech | NDY | Glumac | Hoare Lea | Cosentini Associates

Plumbing doesn’t always get the attention it deserves in conversations about design, performance and sustainability. But buildings rely on water to function, and plumbing systems affect everything from cost and comfort to resilience and certification. When systems are oversized, poorly drained or difficult to monitor, it creates real issues for the people who use and manage the space. Performance drops. Maintenance costs rise. And opportunities to reduce water use are lost. Smarter design can change that. Right-sized pipework reduces capital and operational expenditure. Rainwater harvesting and reuse support sustainability goals. Remote monitoring helps identify issues before they escalate. In this article, Brent `Butters’ Marsh, Technical Solutions Group Leader – Hydraulics at #NDY, takes a closer look at the common pitfalls that can undermine plumbing design. He explains where projects often go wrong, why it matters and how smarter decisions from the start can deliver better outcomes for people, budgets and the environment. https://lnkd.in/dfBntWZX #MakingSpacesWork Tetra Tech High Performance Buildings Group | Cosentini Associates | Glumac | Hoare Lea
