Seven months after losing her father, Asmita Dey stood atop the Commonwealth Games podium with a historic gold. Her father, a bicycle mechanic from Tripura, had supported her sporting dream through every setback. After his death in December 2025, Asmita returned to training, earned selection and carried his faith all the way to Glasgow. The victory was also a proud moment for the Uttar Pradesh Police. Asmita joined the force through the sports quota in 2023 and was promoted to sub-inspector in 2026. Beyond the politics of protest, I saw something far more significant: the emergence of Compassionate Citizenship. While a few sought to provoke violence, tens of thousands of young people chose responsibility, restraint, non-violence and solidarity. The government has put a price tag on its defence of E20 petrol: without ethanol blending, it claims petrol in Delhi could have touched ₹125 a litre when crude oil reached $135 a barrel. Consumers instead paid ₹94.77, translating into a claimed saving of nearly ₹30 per litre. While the petroleum ministry says ethanol reduces import dependence and shields consumers from crude shocks, the road transport ministry has acknowledged that some vehicles designed for E10 may experience a 2–6% drop in fuel efficiency when using E20. Read in details https://lnkd.in/gj-s2hkw
