Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta lead America’s transportation system through one of the darkest days in our nation’s history 25 years ago today, September 11, 2001 🇺🇸 His decisive leadership helped bring thousands of aircraft safely to the ground. In the days following the attacks he transformed aviation security and oversaw the creation of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to better protect our traveling public. USDOT honors Secretary Mineta’s extraordinary service, enduring legacy and impact on our nation’s transportation systems.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Administrator Derek Barrs says it loud and clear: “If you're not following the rules, you need to get out of the business!” USDOT is cracking down on illegal alien truckers and fraudulent CDL trucking schools to make sure people operating big rigs are following the rules that keep American roads safe. 🚛 🇺🇸
Derek Barrs, Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, just came off the Summit stage covering fraudulent actors, where policy is heading on autonomous vehicles, and the enforcement issues carriers are dealing with right now. He didn't hedge on any of it. His message to operators cutting corners: if you're not following the rules, you need to get out of the business. For the companies in the room who have spent years investing in safety and compliance while watching bad actors undercut them, that's a sign of respect. It's also accountability, coming from someone who sees carriers as partners in getting this right.

Getting America moving again! 🚗💨 FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster joined South Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Justin Powell to tour Phase 3C of the Carolina Crossroads Project in Columbia—a top priority for SCDOT and a key piece of the Trump Administration’s #FreedomToDrive initiative. With the Midlands region facing a projected 70% population surge by 2040, this major overhaul of the I-20/I-26/I-126 interchange will eliminate notorious bottlenecks, slash daily gridlock, and dramatically improve driver safety. Project Impact: ❇️ 14 Miles Modernized: Upgrading an essential 8-mile corridor to boost safety and keep freight moving. ❇️ Streamlined Delivery: Under President Trump and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, FHWA is cutting red tape and getting back to basics. ❇️ Record Investment: $1.7 billion obligated in South Carolina, backing 380 active projects statewide. FHWA is proud to partner with SCDOT to relieve congestion and build modern, reliable infrastructure for South Carolina! #AmericaisBuildingAgain #SafeRoads #Infrastructure #FreedomToDrive
