The most important thing about Weave Robotics' Isaac 1 launch last week isn't the robot. It's the price. $7,999. Or $449 a month. Humanoid competitors are asking $12K–$20K+ because legs demand expensive actuators and sensors. Weave Robotics went the other way: wheels, a telescopic torso, two arms, and a laser focus on the chores people actually hate: laundry, tidying, making beds. As an early investor, this was the bet from day one: the first robot to earn a place in millions of homes won't be the one that looks most human. It'll be the one that's affordable, useful, and trustworthy enough to run while you're not home. Three things worth noting from the launch: 1. They earned this launch. Isaac 0, their stationary laundry robot, logged 2,000+ hours in real homes before Isaac 1 shipped. 2. Privacy is a hardware feature. Cameras physically disable when not needed; processing happens mostly on-device. In a category where every robot is a camera on wheels, this is how you win trust. 3. Hybrid autonomy is honest autonomy. Remote specialists handle edge cases so tasks actually get finished. The companies pretending they don't need this are the ones to worry about. Weave Robotics unveiled our Isaac 1 robot on Friday, and the showing was everything we could've hoped for. We had an oversubscribed event with roboticists, engineers, designers, students, kids, grandparents all in one place, seeing for themselves how home robots will change the way we live for the better (video in comments). And they loved Isaac 1's home-first design, which was also recognized with an Industrial Design award by San Francisco Design Week. We cannot wait to introduce him to even more people.

We've now deployed our laundry-folding robots in homes, laundromats, and hotels across the Bay Area and California. One of my favorite moments from a deployment came recently from shipping to a home customer. This customer told me ahead of time that they'd be a happy Weave Robotics customer, but their fiancé was going to be really picky about fold quality. A week later, we're installing their robot at their home on a normal work night. Sure enough, shortly after getting home from the office, their fiancé tells me: "I dunno, I'm pretty particular about my laundry." 😅 They nonetheless invite me to stay a bit and watch as the robot folds for them for the first time. As soon as their Isaac 0 starts folding, the fiancé gasps and takes out their phone and records the first few minutes. We watch the robot (they named it Harry) inside-out the third piece of clothing it gets (something we've only been doing for a few weeks and takes robots longer than it does humans). The robot manages, and internally I feel some relief as the fiancé gets increasingly excited watching it fold article after article. Two friends they'd invited over for pizza (and to see the robot) arrive. They're amazed. They start recording the robot too. 30 minutes into Harry folding, all of us are nibbling on some chips and guac and laughing together as the robot folds in the background. The robot has now made a few folded stacks and nearly exhausted the pile of clothes. The moment the fiancé notices this, they dash out of the kitchen and yell: "We need more clothes!!" And proceeded to dump the next pile for the robot.

Weave Robotics was invited to a federal government robotics roundtable with around 100 other industry, venture capital, and government agency representatives in DC. The goal was to get leaders all in one room to discuss and shape upcoming national robotics strategy. Here are some of my messages from that meeting as well as my takeaways: • Robotics is still America’s to lead. Seizing the opportunity will require unprecedented public-private coordination, like Commerce spearheaded here, as much as innovation. • For this to be the American century, robotics needs to power both the American household as well as American industry. (This is Weave Robotics' explicit mission.) • There’s so much government can do at all levels to articulate a positive vision and culture for robotics. This is also on the builders themselves to build products and services that empower humanity. • What matters is results. This means actually shipping: the best robots in the world, for real use cases, to happy & paying customers, as quickly as possible. While there, I met with a dozen Congressional offices (Rep. Jay Obernolte, Rep. Haley Stevens, Rep. Bob Latta, and others from the Congressional Robotics Caucus, plus Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Young from Senate Commerce). I also attended a Council on Foreign Relations (a DC think tank) robotics roundtable. The desire to be ahead of the curve on robotics policy was palpable.
