I joined Meta 9 years ago (still Facebook at that time) to start my first job, and spent 8 amazing years there. My peers, managers and the engineers that I supported, every single person there truly made it a special one for me. Meta will always have a spot in my heart. Who got hit hardest? 👉 The WITCH firms (Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL) they rely on paying ~$80K–90K to H1B workers. No way they’ll shell out $100K per visa. Who can afford it easily? Big Tech & mid-sized US companies: paying $250K–1M for engineers, an extra $33K/year is nothing( for 3 years visa). Startups: Hire grads on OPT, then convert to H1B (no $100K fee). In short: Trump didn’t kill H1B. He killed the low-cost outsourcing model. Hiring employees from outside the US under the label of “top talent” and paying them $80K is not opportunity : it’s exploitation of both the H1B visa and the worker. So Trump basically stopped exploitation of worker.

I am making my way through the messages and will respond to you (we are definitely over 21 though :-)) . I promise to come back in a couple of months after having done these to see if we can offer something more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last month my corporate career turned 21! Through the years, I had my fair share of moments where I nearly quit (reasons include but not limited to: being a young mom, undefined role, culture issues, the many interests and limited time in life!). The only reason I did not is because of conversations at just the right time with someone that motivated me to keep going. Now as my career enters its adulthood, I am grateful to be able to say that I am working because I love what I do, and can do it within the boundaries of the life I want. As a way to pay it forward, I want to offer 21 1:1s over the next 10 weeks to anyone who may need that conversation. I can't promise solutions, but I can promise a listening ear or just fun stories. Ankur Sadhoo liked thisAnkur Sadhoo liked thisThis past weekend, I had the opportunity to serve as a judge at HackMIT, one of the largest and most prestigious undergraduate hackathons globally. It was hard to not notice the paradigm shift from traditional coding centric marathons to accelerated innovation sprints - thanks to AI tools that enabled faster debugging and development of functional prototypes, enabling participants to create more ambitious and higher-quality projects within a 24-hour timeframe. AI has opened the floodgates by removing technical barriers, fostering an idea-driven hacking environment that amplifies creativity and problem solving - vibe coding !!! Will AI replace software engineers? My personal opinion: I don't think so, but there will certainly be a shift in the nature of problem solving. AI assistants will boost productivity by crunching large datasets, writing boilerplate code, thereby allowing engineers to focus on ideation and more complex, creative aspects of problem solving. Kudos to the hackathon organizers for pulling off this large-scale event and congratulations to all the winners. Looking forward to seeing several of these ideas turn into startup pitches - thanks to Y Combinator and several other sponsors that made it happen !!! #hackmit2025 Fun fact: Over 25+ Turing award winners are affiliated with Massachusetts Institute of Technology which makes this a significant institution for producing numerous distinguished individuals in computer science.

The best part was meeting my college friend Vinit Bhansali after more than 20 years. What a reunion! I also had some really good conversations with Ronak Massand, Jason Saltzman, and Grace Gong. Big thanks to Mahir Kumar Singh and Melissa Braxton-Rasumoff for the invite. I really appreciate what you’re building for the founder community. Wishing I had snapped a few more pics from this memorable meetup! And yes… I walked away as an even bigger fan of HubSpot. 🚀

While testing an email template, I accidentally sent a batch to customers without replacing the first name in the salutation 🤦♂️ Cue me frantically patching things and cursing myself for the blunder. Then the replies started coming in. Customers pointed it out, laughed it off, and said “it happens.” Many still engaged with the offer. Ironically, I ended up with more conversations and engagement than I expected. Lesson: it is okay to be human. Bugs happen. Do not beat yourself up. Fix the process for next time. Sometimes mistakes create better outcomes than perfection. Now, back to my coffee ☕ and onboarding customers.
