Nornir has been one of the most popular open source projects in infrastructure automation for almost a decade. It has helped thousands of engineers automate their infrastructure using Python, without forcing them to learn a new framework or adopt a new way of working. For us, this is much more than maintaining an open source project. We believe infrastructure automation is entering a new era with AI and autonomous agents. Those systems will need trusted infrastructure data, but they will also need reliable and predictable execution. Nornir has already earned the confidence of the infrastructure community as a Python-native execution framework, and we believe it will play an even more important role in the years ahead. Our commitment is simple: - Nornir will remain open source and community-driven. - We’ll invest time and resources to keep the project healthy and modern. - We’ll build its future together with the people who use it every day. I also want to personally thank David B. for everything he has built over the last decade. NAPALM and Nornir have had an incredible impact on our industry, and we’re honored by the trust he has placed in us. I’m also very happy that David will continue to support us as a Technical Advisor. Sauf que j'ai mal estimé le temps que ça allait nécessiter avec nos 3 environnements, et 3 bases totalisant environ 1 To. J'étais parti sur une journée de travail (et une nuit de migration). En pratique ça a pris 5 secondes (et une nuit de migration automatisée). Alors je me suis promis que j'allais remercier David et Nuno pour avoir créé Nhost et gérer autant au quotidien pour que mes cauchemars infra n'en soient pas (eux ils aiment ça visiblement). The theme: build an AI demo product using as much European tech as possible. No OpenAI. No Supabase. No Vercel. No GCP. We swapped: • Supabase → Nhost • Vercel → Scalingo • OpenAI → Mistral AI • GCP Cloud Run → Koyeb …to name a few. Turns out building without US infra is tough — but in 7 hours, we shipped a browser extension agent that helps you identify European alternatives as you build. As for me — I’ll take you behind the scenes on how we’re building it. From the beginning, I wanted Yacht Cabin to be fast to build, easy to scale, and open enough to avoid lock-in. That’s why I chose Nhost as our backend. It’s a modern alternative to Firebase, but made of open-source tools I already know well — PostgreSQL & Hasura. It supports both GraphQL and REST, scales out of the box, and comes with built-in CI/CD. And if we ever need to, we can self-host the entire stack — completely free. That flexibility gives us speed and control — two things that usually don’t come together.
