What if I told you there was another antitrust case against a dominant healthcare system of record software vendor? There simply could not be another lawsuit between two payor software platforms, could there? As of January 9, that is true, but not the players you think it might be. Infosys, a global consulting and IT services based out of India, issued a countercomplaint against Cognizant, another global consulting and IT services firm based out of India. These are two titans in the payer space, providing professional services for most payers nationwide. Cognizant (CST) did some light vertical integration in the 2010s by acquiring the two largest claims processing / payer software companies, QXNT and Trizetto, leading to control of 65% of the market. Infosys claims CST used their market weight to act anticompetitively, restricting the ability to integrate their software, poaching executives, and imposing restrictive NDAs and contract terms to prevent Infosys from effectively competing or developing alternative solutions like their Helix platform. This is all in response to CST's initial claim that Infosys stole trade secrets by improperly creating a repository of test cases and developing integration tools for CST's software platforms. The case thus presents a complex intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law, with CST arguing it's simply protecting its proprietary technology while Infosys contends these IP claims are being weaponized to maintain monopoly power. The outcome could have significant implications for both innovation and competition in the healthcare payer software market, where many systems are still running on decades-old technology that CST acquired rather than developed and upstarts like Helix, Oscar Health's +Oscar, and others attempt to gain market share. It also has interplay with EHRs and other systems of record - the precedents set here around NDAs, interoperability requirements, and the balance between IP protection and anti-competitive behavior could influence how dominant healthcare IT vendors across all sectors manage access to their platforms. Now that’s innovation in a business context, carving a niche by focusing on elderly healthcare. During the treatment for an elder in the family, I saw something for the first time: Public Relations Manager personally approached families for feedback. R&D SPOC engaged patients in small cognitive activities, as part of their research. I was reluctant to take the stairs. But those posters are placed in such a way that you notice them while waiting for the elevator. Medical science keeps progressing with treatments and technology. The launch of the 100-episode AI-powered series Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh (JioHotstar /Star Plus) is a monumental achievement, positioning it as India’s first AI-powered premium series. While the exact technical blueprint is not public, I am inferring this architecture based on partnership information available (JioStar, Collective Artists Network/Galleri5 AI, Microsoft Azure) and the current state of enterprise-grade Generative AI: 1. Platform: Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, providing scalable compute (likely NVIDIA H100/A100 GPUs) for high-volume video synthesis. 2. Visuals: Custom-finetuned Latent Diffusion Models (LDMs). Their key to success is using proprietary "mythology and culture-based AI datasets" to ensure cultural fidelity and character consistency. 3. Coherence: Specialized LLMs (for script consistency) and Neural TTS models (for multilingual localization in seven Indian languages) complete the sophisticated pipeline. First Impressions & Quality: Technologically, the series is impressive. Characters maintain remarkable visual likelihood between frames, and critical AI anomalies (like characters having extra fingers) appear to have been successfully filtered out, showcasing the robustness of their finetuning. My own cynical eye found the visual flow slightly surreal, perhaps perceiving it as connected video segments (my bias!). Yet, the true test was showing it to my in-laws—they were completely immersed and couldn't tell it was AI-generated. I applaud JioStar/CAN/Galleri5 (now, part of Collective Artists Network) AI for this pioneering effort. I strongly urge them to release a detailed technological case study.
