    As a mentor, I am strategically matched with a middle school student with similar interests. My student partner meets with me at my workplace for two hours/week for 8-10 consecutive weeks. In that time, the student learns about what I do while I try to inspire their curiosity, help them build new skills and learn about career possibilities. Together we work on a project of the student's choosing (usually to build on a hobby or subject they are passionate about) and incorporate real world skills…

Together we work on a project of the student's choosing (usually to build on a hobby or subject they are passionate about) and incorporate real world skills such as networking, time management, project scheduling, public speaking, etc. It is a extremely rewarding experience and it isn't just the student who learns!
