Not every Google Ads expert wants to build a multi million dollar agency. Some of us prefer to do things differently. I've built a consulting business focused on auditing accounts and creating recovery plans for my clients. It's a "soft" business that lets me have slow mornings and a flexible schedule with my kids. And here’s why that matters to you: When I audit your account, my focus isn't on hitting a massive monthly retainer. It's on making sure your money is well spent in your ads account. Meanwhile, you’ll see average or even inferior products dominate entire industries… simply because their creators knew how to capture attention, tell a story, and sell. In business, visibility beats perfection. You can have the greatest solution in the world, but if you can’t communicate its value, you’ll lose to someone who can. The lesson? But at the collection level, things fall apart. → Organic traffic: 476/month → Ranking keywords: 126 (should be 800+) → Backlinks: 0 That’s what I call an authority bottleneck, a strong domain with pages that don’t benefit from that authority. What’s working ✅ Optimized meta title & description ✅ Active breadcrumb schema That’s the groundwork every SEO page needs. The difference between struggling dropshippers and 8-figure brands? It's not the products. As someone who's built $100M+ in ecommerce revenue, I'm going to share what most "gurus" hide from you: winning products are a LIE. The real secret to ecommerce success in 2025 isn't finding that magical product – it's understanding that you don't lose money on Facebook ads. You BUY DATA. This mindset shift separates the top 1% from everyone else: 🔍 When your campaigns aren't profitable, don't immediately hunt for a new "winning product." That's the amateur move costing you thousands in wasted ad spend. Instead, identify WHERE the breakdown is occurring: 1️⃣ Ad-Side Breakdown: If your CPMs exceed $30, CTR falls below 3%, or CPC tops $1.50 in the US, your creative is the problem – not your product. Most dropshippers create terrible ads then blame the product when it fails. 2️⃣ Creatives reign supreme in 2025. When your engagement metrics are poor, Facebook's algorithm penalizes your ads even if they technically pass review. Zuckerberg prioritizes user experience above all else. 3️⃣ Funnel-Side Breakdown: If ad metrics look solid but you're still not profitable, your funnel needs work: CVR under 3%? Your landing page needs improvement Add-to-cart ratio below 10%? Your product page isn't persuasive enough ATC-to-purchase under 30%? Fix your checkout experience 4️⃣ The metric that changes everything: AOV (Average Order Value). Your AOV should be AT LEAST 2-3x your front-end product price. I've seen $20 products consistently generating $90 AOVs through proper funnel optimization. The success formula isn't complicated: ❌ Losers: Test product → Lose money → Blame product → Repeat ✅ Winners: Test product → Analyze data → Fix bottleneck → Scale Stop thinking like a novice: "I tested 100 products and none worked!" How do you decide whether to target locally or globally? This question comes up all the time—even though your service could be provided globally. If you’re in the States, I’d recommend starting locally. We recently started building a lead list for one of my agency-owner clients: 1. We focused locally because he didn’t know many people from his ICP. 2. We built brand awareness at the same time. 3. We prioritized long-term relationships and in-person meetings. When people start recognizing you locally: 1. My client was introduced through mutual connections, which built instant trust and credibility. 2. He met people he would’ve never met if it weren’t for LinkedIn. 3. Local connections became the foundation for his global reach. 4. Doing business became easier since he could meet people anytime. 5. We booked 8 calls in 20 days because of shared mutuals. Once your foundation is strong, everything else falls into place. Start small, then build from there.

Every agency owner thinks they need to choose between process and creativity. They're dead wrong. The secret is taking what's proven to drive results, tactics you've deployed 100 times that never fail, and blending them with fresh strategic thinking for each individual client. That's nearly the entire game. You should have SOPs for everything. Email deliverability setup. Clay workflows. LinkedIn outreach sequences. Paid media Campaign structures that convert. These should be battle tested processes that you know work because you've run them thousands of times. But SOPs should be living documents. Every campaign generates data. Every client teaches you something new. Trust the numbers and iterate constantly. When something consistently outperforms, it becomes part of the playbook. When something stops working, you kill it. No ego, just data. Most agencies force fit every client into the same box. Or worse, they never update their processes because "this is how we've always done it." They become order takers, not strategic partners. Your SOPs handle the execution layer. The technical setup, infrastructure, proven frameworks. That frees up your brain to understand why each client is different. What makes their market unique. Where their competitors are vulnerable. Spend two weeks just listening to new clients. Understand their business at a molecular level. Then take your proven systems and customize the strategy layer on top. SOPs ensure quality and predictable outcomes. Strategic thinking transforms good campaigns into phenomenal campaigns. Data tells you when to evolve both. Listen to the data. The agencies that thrive won't be the ones with the best processes or the most creative strategies. They'll be the ones who master the blend and let data and AI efficiencies drive their evolution. Stop trying to be either a process shop or a creative agency. Be both. If you're not delivering both, you're just another vendor waiting to get replaced.

Share full ideas, not trailers.  Publish full posts on LinkedIn. Share quote-worthy insights in podcasts. Post charts that get saved in Slack. 3. Activate trusted voices.  Your SMEs, sellers, and client teams. They know what resonates. Put them forward. The bottom line is that your site is proof, not pitch. Local businesses are unique and that means you need a unique set up in Google Ads. Here are my best tips for setting up search campaigns that actually work for targeting your local customers. 1. Match the ad budget to the targeted location (there's only so much search volume when your locations are narrow) 2. Location targeting that matches your actual service area. 2. Exact match keywords only (if you're just getting started) 3. The right bidding strategy which could be anything from manual to smart bidding. 4. Location assets are a must (call assets too if you answer the phone) 5. Keep your campaign consolidated and aggressively remove underperforming keywords A lot of the strategies and tips for Google Ads come from large accounts with national or international reach and won't work for a local business.
