Martin Casado reposted thisYesterday, Cursor was acquired by SpaceX, and with that, my time as Cursor's General Counsel comes to an end. I joined Cursor when we could all still fit in one room - a room where I was by far the oldest person! Since then, we’ve grown from a coding assistant into an elite frontier AI company. It has been the highlight of my professional career to watch that transformation from the inside. I knew Cursor was special from the beginning, but I could not have imagined a better run than this. I thought about doing individual shoutouts, but when you've worked with the best tech team ever assembled, that would take pages and pages. So I will just say thank you, Michael T. and Jordan Topoleski, for the opportunity of a lifetime. I'm incredibly excited to see what Cursor and SpaceX build together, and for whatever comes next for me. Although after Cursor, the bar is very high. Per aspera, ad astra.Martin Casado reposted thisCursor is now part of SpaceX. Today, we have officially closed our acquisition. We will join the SpaceXAI team to help make Grok the world's most useful AI and improve Grok Build, Grok Bot, Grok API, Cursor, and more. SpaceX has built some of the most inspiring and impressive technology in the world, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to become part of such a special company. Onwards. https://lnkd.in/gUgcbasZ

Martin Casado reposted thisMartin Casado reposted thisHi 3D vision and graphics folks — is loading a mesh into Blender just to check a quick output getting a little tedious? Me and my friends Haomiao Jiang and Qi Wu put together a VS Code extension called 3D Mesh Viewer. It lets you preview 3D files in a real viewport right inside the editor, so you can quickly check your outputs without switching to Blender or MeshLab. It supports: • GLB/GLTF, FBX, OBJ, USD/USDZ, STL, PLY, DAE, and more • Gaussian splats — .spz, .splat, .ksplat, .sog, and 3DGS .ply • Blender-style shading HUD — wireframe, solid, material, rendered, normals • Animation dope sheet — select clips, scrub, and step through frames • Skeleton and Skin-weight visualization that deforms with the animation If this sounds useful for your workflow, search “3D Mesh Viewer” on the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX and give it a try! Feedback, issues, and contributions are very welcome :) cursor [https://lnkd.in/gc8AUj38] vscode [https://lnkd.in/gciPmCpq] #3D #ComputerGraphics #GaussianSplatting #DeveloperTools #Animation

Martin Casado reposted thisMartin Casado reposted thisToday, we're introducing Ideogram 4.0 — the best open image model in the world. Think it. Make it. Own it. You can download the weights now, fine-tune on your own data, and run it on your own hardware. It's live on every Ideogram plan and the API, as well as partner platforms. On Design Arena's third-party leaderboard, Ideogram 4.0 ranks as the #1 open-weight text-to-image model — ahead of every foundation model except closed models from OpenAI and Google. In other words, frontier quality, but with open weights, full customization, and data privacy. Ideogram 4.0 pushes the frontier of design with: - Dense, accurate text rendering - Native 2K resolution - Native background transparency - Precise layout control - Editable text, movable layers, and full image editing are coming soon. A bit on how we built it: we trained Ideogram 4.0 with bounding boxes tied to region descriptions, teaching the model where every object, text region, and layout element belongs. That richer supervision helps the model train much faster, and it means you can prompt with precise bounding-box positions for fine-grained layout control. As you'd expect from every Ideogram model, typography and graphic design remain the strongest capabilities: logos, posters, multi-font layouts, long-form text, and creative typography that's truly integrated into the design. Ideogram 4.0 excels at photorealism and renders the fine texture and natural imperfections that separate a real photograph from an AI-generated image. All in native 2K. We believe openness drives innovation, and we're excited to work with developers, researchers, and enterprises to customize Ideogram 4.0 and unlock a new frontier of generative media and design. Partner platforms include Hugging Face, ComfyUI, fal, Runware, Magnific, krea.ai, Leonardo.Ai, Picsart, Cloudflare, Replicate, Gamma, FLORA, and Kittl

Martin Casado reposted thisMartin Casado reposted thisWhat if you could edit the text in your AI-generated images? You shouldn't have to regenerate an entire design to fix one word. That's why we're introducing Editable Text Layers. Press Layerize Text on your design and every line becomes its own editable component. Change the headline. Swap the font. Rewrite the copy. The design stays intact. Only the words move. We're also launching Design Categories. Pick a category like Poster, Marketing, or Photography and browse a feed of curated prompts and designs for inspiration. Each category tunes the composition, type placement, and visual style to what you're actually making. Start with inspiration. Finish with something ready to ship. Whether you're a solo marketer testing three headlines without touching the graphic, or a brand team localizing a campaign overnight: generate once, edit as many times as you need. Everything you need to start and finish is in one place. Free on all plans and accessible via the API. Link in comments.

Martin Casado reposted thisMartin Casado reposted thisToday, we introduce Phota Studio and Phota API, powered by our photography model that brings flagship image model capabilities, personalized to you. With personalization, an image model stops being just playful and starts becoming useful for photography. With Phota Studio, you can: - Reimagine composition, lighting, or posture while still looking like yourself - Create editorial, stylized, and studio-quality portraits of yourself, or bring someone you love into the frame - Revive the blurred shot, bring in the person who missed the group photo, fix the awkward expression - all without losing what made the moment worth keeping With Phota API, you can finally build photo experiences where real people are the core. Marketing assets, editorial shoots, wedding photography: workflows that needed identity fidelity that GenAI couldn't deliver. Until now. Ultimately, we want to make compelling photographs accessible to everyone. Phota API and Phota Studio start to make that possible: empowering people to explore, imagine, and create without losing themselves in the image. With Phota Studio and Phota API, developers can build new photo experiences, while photographers and creators can explore a new kind of AI-native editing and generation. The next photo experience starts here!

Martin Casado reposted thisMartin Casado reposted thisToday, I'm excited to announce the industry's first proactive AI SRE agent. It works by finding novel behaviors in your environment and only asking an LLM to investigate those. By focusing on novel behaviors, we make applying LLMs on an entire stream of observability data possible. We started Grepr to revolutionize how engineers run their environments and build reliability at scale. As the rate of change increases and as the volume of observability multiplies, SREs have been breathlessly trying to catch up. As development becomes more automated and faster, what about ops? AI SREs are a clear way forward, but the crop of these tools being built today are all focused on post-incident troubleshooting. But with a rapid pace of change comes a higher rate of incidents. So post-incident troubleshooting doesn't solve the crux of the problem: how do we protect the environment from failures in the first place? How do we capture leading indicators of emergent issues, prosecute them and remediate quickly if it does turn out to be something that requires immediate attention? More details in the blog link in the comments. Visit us at booth 491 at #KubeCon Europe to see a demo!

Martin Casado reposted thisMartin Casado reposted thisI am excited to announce that I have joined Grepr as Chief Operating Officer. I join an already amazing team led by brilliant founder Jad Naous, who has built an incredible product that customers are already leveraging at scale. I’m also honored to work alongside experienced investors Martin Casado from Andreessen Horowitz and Ed Sim from boldstart ventures. Throughout my career at Cisco Systems, AppDynamics, Duo Security, New Relic, and LogicMonitor. I’ve seen firsthand how the quest for "full visibility" often leads to explosive data noise—and AI is only making this reality worse. Grepr has built a modern AI driven approach that results in: ✅ 90% reduction in observability costs without ripping and replacing current tools. ✅ Rapid Time-to-Value delivers results in minutes, not months. ✅ Actionable insights that engineers actually need. Please feel free to reach out to me personally for a demo or sign up for a Demo (https://app.grepr.ai)

Martin Casado liked thisMartin Casado liked thisArena reached a $100M annual revenue run rate just 8 months after launching our evaluation product. We started as a research project at UC Berkeley with a simple mission: measure AI progress through real-world use. As AI shifts from chatbots to agents taking on longer, higher-stakes work, the problem matters more than ever. Today, Arena measures real-world AI utility with a community of tens of millions. With Agent Arena, we’re evaluating long-running agents on complex, real-world tasks - how they use tools, adapt to feedback, and recover from errors, and accomplish goals set by humans. We are excited to keep deepening our work in agentic evaluations. Here’s Anastasios Angelopoulos on what this milestone means and where we go from here: If our mission resonates with you, check out our job openings and reach out: arena.ai/jobs If you’d like to learn more about the milestone, head over to our blog: https://lnkd.in/g83eynhg

Technology is not the constraint. Leadership is. AI and emerging technologies are advancing at a pace most leaders were never trained to navigate. The question is not whether these tools will reshape health, security, and global policy — they already are. The question is whether our leaders have the internal operating system to steward them wisely. What happens when capability outpaces character? What happens when tools evolve faster than the people wielding them? The future does not belong to those with the best technology. It belongs to those with the wisdom to use it well.

15-years-old students Akhil Nagori, Evann Sun, and Lucas Shengwen Yen invented wearable glasses powered by AI that can translate text to speech in real time. The idea to build AI-powered text-to-speech glasses came after Akhil traveled to India to visit family, including his great-uncle who is visually impaired. The trio took their project all the way to the 2025 Thermo Fisher Scientific #JuniorInnovators Challenge, the nation’s leading middle school STEM competition. There, they presented their research and participated in a variety of STEM challenges. Akhil went on to win the Broadcom Coding with Commitment® Award (BROADCOM FOUNDATION) and Evann was awarded The Lemelson Foundation Award for Invention.
